Sunday Catinee: Fireman Saves Kitten… and Makes Video

July 21, 2013 By: Sparkle Cat28 Comments

Sparkle's Sunday Catinee

What’s better than a vegan firefighter who saves a kitten’s life? How about a vegan firefighter who saves a kitten’s life — and who has a sense of humor? Cory Kalanick of Fresno always wears a helmet cam, and one day it recorded a very special rescue — Kalanick found a lifeless kitten and resuscitated him. This was already heart-warming enough, but then he decided to edit the clips into a mock film trailer:

I loved that he tried to save the kitteh. What kind of a firefighter would he be if he didn’t? But I just wonder, how did the little baby get left behind to die? I would probably burn to my death rather than leave without all of my cats.

Wow! That was a terrific catinee! One of the best ever, though it was so sad at the beginning. I’m glad you let us know ahead of time that the kitten was saved.

And guess what? Fresno is where the Human currently is. As close as she can figure, that fireman is probably the best thing about this hellishly hot place (currently 105 in the shade).

Pop showed me the original video a few weeks ago. This is so cool. TW grew up next door to a fire house and her Dad and Granddad were volunteer firemen. Bravo to the fireman.

It was beyond amazing and wonderful what the firefighter did to try to save this kitten. Unfortunately, the kitten did not survive. For reference on this, see “Life with Cats”–there is an update in there somewhere. Breaks my heart.

What a wonderful rescue. It seems like we’re hearing about more of these sorts of saves now that local firefighters are furnished with the right lifesaving equipment for animals, too, which is just wonderful.

OMC, of course our human is bawling her eyes out now. What a fantastic story. Wonder what happened to the kitten after that–if the house resident(s) claimed him or if he was taken by someone else. In either case, we hope Lucky’s human(s) are as wonderful as that firefighter.

The kitten did not survive. The firefighter worked tirelessly to try to save the kitten, but they said that young kitty lungs are very fragile and too much damage was done…
