This is sort of an unofficial Sunday Catinee day because I basically just have a question about this video and videos on Facebook in general. A few days ago, my human was trying to take a nap and I was sitting on top of her, kneading the black fleece blanket she was using. Since there was no way she was going to be able to sleep, she took a video with her iPhone and immediately posted it on my Facebook page. And it got a boatload of views — at over 2,500, it’s not exactly viral, but it’s still a lot. And I’m basically just doing the same thing over and over again for 37 seconds. Watch:
If you can’t see the above video, click here to watch it on YouTube!
I don’t get why it was so popular! And it is that way with the other couple of crappy-looking videos I’ve had on my Facebook page. I’m basically doing next to nothing and everybody wants to take a look. I get the feeling that my human could post a video of me digging around in the litter box and people would flock to it. (I hope that does not give her any ideas!) The same videos, posted to YouTube don’t get anywhere near as much attention. Can any of you figure out what the big deal is?
(Bonus points for you if you noticed Binga fur in the lower right hand side of the video. That’s the other reason my human’s nap got ruined.)
Because you are furry cute when you make biscuits 🙂
XOXO
You are one excellent biscuit maker, that’s why it went viral! Neytiri and I need lessons from you, Sparkle!
its Because you looks so adorable Sparkle,xx Speedy
Hey, I wish I was so popular!
Seriously though, my mum loves your video too. She thinks you look adorable 🙂
Have a great week!
ha ha well done you on being so popular. probably because your facebook friends will be like minded people and will share it with their like minded people? Just a thought
HAH! In other words, I should post all my videos on FB. It’s a shame that this was more popular than your answer to that Huffington Post article.
Umm..I guess they watched it cause they kneed to..get it..kneed to..HAHA Baby Tali is funny! 😆
ummm…Sparkle…I am sure you know this already…because you have a few books and lots of other stuff published etc. But…it doesn’t take much to capture humans’ attention especially when it comes to us cats…just sayin’
Sparkle, peoples is crazy!
Kisses
Nellie
I am sorry I missed your Facebook post. Sparkle you are just adorable. I love that video.
Maybe it was on the self help channel and lots of peeps wanted to learn how to make biscuits?
I dunno. Maybe it is because you look so darn serious as you do that???
Grace was watching it with me and she seemed very interested as well. Who knows?
It’s a perfect Facebook video!
We’ve learned that with both photos and videos, the simplest and more “under-produced” ones are the most popular. One of the most popular photos we had was so blurry and dark, Glogirly almost threw it away. Often those will get more attention than the more perfect and professional looking things.
; )
I’ve only been on Facebook a short time (less than a year), and I notice that I like the videos more than the other stuff. Videos of cats, that is. The video of Sparkle is just the right length (for the activity of a cat kneading), it has no distracting sound, and Sparkle has a wonderful “wild cat” look to her that contrasts with the sweetie-pie kneading. Well, that’s my take on the thing.
It’s all about your expression 🙂
You look very peaceful and relaxed. Maybe it makes the watchers feel the same way.
If I knew I’d have millions of fans like Grumpy Cat. Going viral is kitty karma in action.
It could be that about subscribers as some youtubers have that otherwise it just a search and then an intangible thing to make viraland Facebook is with people who already follow you and want to know more and love viewing your messages. No matter the reason you take your biscuit making is purrfect and happy and that makes people happy.
😕
Welllll, it might be that people think your frown looks cute, that you ARE cute, that Somali cats ARE gorgeous. Nor people might think its an odd angle to see a kitty from on a video! It is odd though!
Hmmm… well… Now, I couldn’t say for sure but… well… well… Actually, I’ve got nothin’. Can’t tell you why. Peeps are weird? That’s the best answer I’ve got.
Purrs,
Nissy
PS. On the other paw, you are obviously VERY serious about your kneadin’ business. Perhaps peeps were impressed by your seriousness.
Ohhhh I love the video very much! I’m not surprised the video got so many views. Watching kitty making biscuit makes us humans so happy and relaxed 🙂
To be honest sometimes I forget you’re a cat…so a video showing you being very cat-like? I’m clicking on that.
We follow FB daily but only look at YouTube once in a while…maybe most kitties are like us? Great technique, btw!
Your video is short and oh, so sweet. I love your expression and I laughed right away because you just look so darn cute. Congrats and take the credit!
Well, you are so lovely and happy in that video, we aren’t surprised at all.
Sparkle, I love this video because often your persona is queenly, and prideful, perhaps even a tiny bit haughty, and I love that! But in this video we see your softer, regular-kitty-cat side—you are showing out-and-out lubs for your Person, and (I think) you are purring and purring because you are so happy on your blankie. You are not Sparkle-the-Diva (whom we all know and love) but Sparkle the family member having a nice bonding time.
That’s why.
We think humans love seeing happiness. Does that make sense?
Sparkle, you are just demonstrating how serious biscuit making is. 😀 We noticed Binga’s fur, because it moved. 😉
From what we understand, text-only posts are less likely to be included on someone’s news feed than posts with photos. And posts with video are even more likely to be included. FB says people are more “engaged” in them, so they are more likely to be included in . (Well, duh, you have to click on them to see the content, and you just have to read a text post… can’t measure whether you were “engaged” or whether you skimmed past it, so who knows the truth of the matter?) So…. all that to say, is it possible that FB is showing the video to more people than your posts with images or just text, therefore you’re seeing a lot more “engagement?”
P.S. the head peep hates the term “engagement.” That’s what people do before they get married, and she doesn’t want to get married to FB. But that’s the term they like to use instead of “people paying attention to your content.” Then again, the head peep groans when a video shows up on a site instead of text she can read, unless it’s a cat video. She’s kind of dinosaur, so we mostly ignore her.
Sparkle, we loved the look of determination in your face as you were making your biscuits.
Not only are humans easily amused,
we think they are jealous that they
cannot do something cute like that 😉

We think it’s because you’re demonstrating serious biscuit making!!
The Florida Furkids
Well you look really determined!
We are clueless about facebook, but, we’re glad that people got to see your intensitiy!
Sparkle you are busy making some serious biscuits in that video. We saw a tad of Binga’s light furs
We give the video 10 ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Hugs Madi your bfff
That is one serious face! I think you have reached the level of celeb status that people want to watch you no matter what you are doing…just keep the photogs out of your litter box!
It’s because all of your adoring fans are following you on FB and we love anything of you.
Sparkle, we can’t figure out Facebook and who sees what. We’ve made some posts and it says only a few peeps seen it and then other posts, hundreds see it. We just can’t figure it out. But you making biscuits is kinda cute. Peeps like that stuff.
I agree with Marg, everyone loves to see a HIP (Happy In Progress)!!!
WEll everyone loves to see a happy cat and Sparkle looks so happy just kneading away.We don’t often see Sparkle in a video. Love the expression on her face. Take care.
Serious biscuit making, of course…
Miss Sparkle,

You know ? you are such a lady 😀
Me, when I do kneading I have to bite my daddy’s dressing gown and Make a loud noise like drooling..tee..heh..heh
Hoomans are so easily amused …
What can we say, Sparkle? Humans can be very strange?! You look so, SO serious making biscuits there!
Purrs,
The Chans
