Here are 10 great reasons to adopt an older cat, starring Jack-Jack, an 18-year-old guy who was living at Big Cat Rescue. Chris Poole, the human who shot the video, works at the sanctuary and took care of him for about year. Jack-Jack now lives with a friend in a big house with other (small) kitties.
If you can’t see the above video, click here to watch it on YouTube!
If you are wondering about the kitten, he is Marmalade and lives with the filmmaker (he came from a friend who needed to find him a home). So obviously Chris likes kitties of all ages — and sizes!
Absolutely a great video. We’re so glad you shared. Our mommy likes adult cats because they do already have their unique personalities. She just hates how the adopter doesn’t get as many years with their new fur person. Nonetheless she has adopted older kitties, like our angels Chloe and Madison. That is the best Adult Cat rescue video ever! Can I share with my rescue and can they post, share it on their FB page….? Pawsome Sparkle!
That video was absolutely fantastic…the 2 cats I had prior to Truffles were adopted at age 9 and 7, respectively 🙂
Good points, Sparkle! We enjoyed the video and glad the point was added about adopting, too.
Aw, we LOVED that movie! He is quite the spokescat for Older Boys 😉
This had me laughing and crying at the same time. What a great guy the older cat is! The perfect GO TO Video to cinvinve people older pets Quite. Simply. ROCK!
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
We love that great video! Older cats don’t climb the curtains either. But we have to say, Oui Oui still chews a lot, scratches boxes in the middle of the night and likes to bite and bunny kick the mom’s hand. And she’s 7, no longer a spring chick-hen.
Such an excellent video. Don’t shop, adopt.
Mom just so loves seeing the senior babies. Oh it makes her think of Robin and Admiral. They are dear and sweet and loving. I am so grateful Jack Jack has a home.
Seniors rock and have earned the right to be loved and happy!
Loved the video he looks like my Jake He was adopted as a baby
A great video. Jack Jack is full of energy.
Loved the video. Mom loves senior kitties. The one she took from a friend (it was an adoption FAIL from a kill shelter) is purring beside her as she types this. He has 2nd stage renal failure and it looks like it is getting worse, but she will do whatever she has to for him with sub-Qs, shots, special diet, whatever it takes to give him a good quality of life. She loves cats, it’s (some) people she can’t stand!
What a beautiful kitty. Great video. Have a great Sunday.
What an awesome video!!! Senior cats do rule! Thank you for sharing!

That was truly pawsome….Jack-Jack is a most handsome guy and yes the kitty is adorable but there’s something way way cool about an old guy having fun – I oughta know – I’m not THAT far away from Jack’s age!
Kitty Hugs, Sammy
That’s a very clever, funny, and moving video! The older cat made me think about Milou!
While we haven’t adopted kittens in a very long time, our kitties weren’t all that old either. I love stripped tabbies!

We loved Jack Jack’s meow!! What a fella!!!!
What a great PSA! And great shout-out to Big Cat Rescue, too. The head peep visited there ten years ago, and if it was within commuting distance would have started volunteering immediately. An amazing place.
I will be sharing everywhere!
My favorite was number 6, save your energy for more important things.
The Staff says she would have still adopted me even if I was older!!
PeeEss I made her say that! 😉
What a great video and what a star in the making!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
That is one terrific video. Hope it got all over You Tube to give everyone the idea of adopting an older cat. Well done. Take care.
That is a great video with great reasons. We have shared and tweeted this post.
What a great, adorable video. Jack Jack is a sweetie. Our Mom says that when “it’s time” she wants to get an older, black kitteh. No more kittens.
That’s great! Thanks fur sharing! Happy Sunday!
