Most of you have probably already seen the video of Ranj, the cat and Peanut, the rat on YouTube — it’s had nearly 5.5 million views. If you haven’t, here it is:
The wacky interspecies relationship continues, even though the affection seems to be a little more on Peanut’s part than Ranj’s. The money shot is at approximately :34.
So kitties, tell me… would YOU be friends with this rat? Or would you eat him?
Thank you for posting this cool rat video…mom says we can’t have any rats.
You are definitely right about that 34 second money shot! Any cat I ever had would gobble up a rat, but my cats were all half wild. Being a fake rat sometimes myself though, I’m glad these cats don’t seem to mind them.
I’m with Lin… who has a rat running around their house?! I’d die if I saw it out of the corner of my eye in the middle of my sleep I think.
Or maybe not. Might be cute. 🙂
Cooper would play with it to death. I’ve actually been known to get mad at him when he leaves me a live mouse as a present (’cause it looked dead when he set it at my feet, so imagine my shock when it jumped to its feet and ran around). I’m not so sure I’d want a not-dead rat deposited at my feet, however.
It depends, if the rat is mean it’s dinner,if it’s friendly and has a kind heart we’d probubly be friends. But me Cheetoes would play to hard and me Snowball would either chace it or ignor it,we’d both probubly wach it tho. We woud never eat it tho.
If da rat was a pet an Mom said not to eat it, I guess I wouldn’t eat it. But I mite play too ruff. Mom an Dad had a pet rat when Scruffy dopted them (she was the cat afore Bonnie an made Dad a cat purrson). Scruffy would watch Two Socks but nefur tried to hurtify her. Mom was careful not to leaf them alone if Two Socks was out of her cage.
I fink a rat mite be fun to play wif.
Purrs,
Victor
That is a cute video but I hate to tell you but we would definitely either eat that character or play with it so hard that it would die. That is sad but we do like to chase mice. Our assistant doesn’t understand a cat that wouldn’t attack a rat and I don’t think she would like a rat in the house. And mice and rats do cause a lot of damage such as chew on your wires and cause fires.
What a cute video! Sammy probably wouldn’t think of it as food or a friend, I think he would just ignore it!
Ah, Lin and I think alike – I was wondering about the poop situation…I think the rat is so sweet – small furry things are always cuddly – to me anyway…
That’s just plain odd! That rat looked very annoying although we giggled when the cat was sitting on the rat. We don’t think we want a pet rat around here.
Who has a rat running around their house??? I mean, I get he’s a pet and all, but can you potty train those things or do you have poopers everywhere??
Gees, there were a couple shots there that I was afraid that cat was gonna swipe him. They are cute though. Our cat always liked the hamsters–it was sort of like she knew they were family members and off – limits.
We’ve never played with a rat, but we used to have a ferret that would play with us like a kitty. He would get a little rough though.
We had rats as pets years ago and the cats would sniff them but not get real lovable. They definitely did not look at them as food, which eased any concerns!
