Holiday Gift Guide for Good Kitties!

November 29, 2010 By: Sparkle Cat34 Comments

Have you been a good kitty this year? Of course you have! We kitties are always good. So you have more than earned any of the items below. They all get my Paw of Approval.*

It's hard to believe this is not a real bug!!!Neko Flies
This is the must-have cat toy of the year! Especially if you are a little cat like I am. Some of the larger cat toys are a little unwieldy and heavy, but this bug-on-a-string-on-a-wand is small, lightweight and, well, very bug-like! I could chase this thing for hours (unfortunately, my human gets bored after a few minutes, but that’s another story). Most of us cats like things that fly through the air, or that can be stalked on the ground, and for my money, this one does it better than either Da Bird or the Cat Dancer! (Although both of those are good to have if you don’t already have them.) Once you get one Neko Fly wand and string, you can get several different bugs to attach to it, so you have lots of different prey!

Grandma Lucy's treats are pawsome!

Grandma Lucy’s Freeze-Dried Cat Treats
These are extra-tasty because they are made from real meat and nothing else! There are a bunch of different flavors. We have had the liver and lamb and we love them both! My human got them from Nip and Bones, Baby Patches’ human’s online store. She likes shopping there because she likes being able to support small businesses AND our friends at the same time!

PawbreakersPawbreakers

These little but highly potent catnip balls are great stocking stuffers! The first time my human brought one home from the Cat Writers Conference in 2008, I could not believe my nose! Not only do these Pawbreakers send you into throes of ecstasy, they also make fun toys to roll around on the floor. And they last forever! The company that makes these even has a humongous version of them for big cats to enjoy.

Flying pig!Flying Pig, or any other catnip toy from Casbah Kitten

Speaking of catnip, I do not know what is in that Kentucky soil, but it grows an especially fragrant strain! It makes the toys from Casbah Kitten positively addicting! As I mentioned above, I usually don’t like larger cat toys, but I love this pig! It’s fun and lightweight and bounces around. It begs to be bunnykicked. The Casbah Kitten cats, Jane and Alice, test out the toys, which are made from eco felt, and the catnip is organic. It’s a good deal all around!

And of course there’s my cat-to-cat advice book and my 2011 wall calendar, which includes my words of feline wisdom!

Stay tuned for tomorrow, when I feature holiday gifts for the cat who has everything!

*Some of the links to the items above are affiliate links, and some of them aren’t. In any case, I would not write about them here if I did not think they were pawsome!

Sparkle — wondering if you like to eat catnip? Or is my Somali just weird?

I’m not a big nip fan in general, although I really liked the items above that had nip in them. Maybe I’m just more of a connoisseur. I’m more into sniffing it, but other cats do actually like to eat it. I hear eating it gives a mellower, less hyper high than sniffing it, although I can’t find the source where I read that now.

That’s a hard call. It depends on whether you prefer chasing after things that fly and crawl or prefer bunnykicking something that smells like really good nip.

Ooooh, the fly looks like a TON of fun! Hobbes has been in the house all of twenty minutes and he’s bored, so I’ve got to find something to entertain him! And Daddeh LOVES to play with the kitties (NOT), so he’ll be extra happy to get one of these too. hee! Hee!

The Neko Fly looks great. I only like softer or smaller toys because one attacked me on my nose when I was little and now I am nervous of a lot of toys.

Great stuff, Sparkle! We really like the Neko fly – that is on our list for sure. We are big fans of Casbah Kitten toys and Grandma Lucy treats :). So are you going to have a list for the bad cats? 😉

I am sure the Farm cats would like these toys. It’s a shame they don’t take goat grain for them

It’s pretty silly that they don’t. Especially considering that goat grain is worth more than that yukky-tasting paper money.

Hi Sparkle! We think that bug toy sounds great – if it is better than a Da Bird and a cat dancer we will just have to try it out. And of course anything from The Casbah Kitten is always on our list! And we keep trying to get mom to get your book too – we can’t wait to see if it comes for Christmas!

Puma and Rascal can never keep their toys because Mollipop tears them all up. But, they have fun playing outside. They love to chase the birds and they are both great at catching a mouse every once in a while.

I would really love to find some Christmas outfits asap for my 2 cats and for Molli….got any ideas on where to find something really cool?

    Happy day to you Sparkle!:-)

MOL, you won’t get an answer from me regarding Christmas costumes, since we all hate wearing them! Maybe you should ask Daisy where she gets hers.
