I am celebrating World Spay Day by showing off photos of my bare belly after I was neutered a little over nine years ago! (If you scroll over the pictures, you can see secret messages.)
Controlling cat population is very important because if you go into any animal control facility in any city here in the U.S., you will quickly realize there are already way too many unwanted kitties!
Spaying and neutering feral cats is an important part of managing colonies so that they don’t get out of control and become a nuisance.
Spaying and neutering your own cats is best for them too — they will live longer, happier and healthier lives. They also will be way more well-behaved — they will stop vocalizing and be far less likely to mark your home with their pee — and I know that is important to humans. Price should not be a deterrent because there are lots of places where you can get low-cost spay and neuter procedures for your cats, especially right now, while World Spay Day is going on!
So spread the word. It always amazes me that there are humans out there who don’t think spaying or neutering their cat is important. I bet you know some humans like that. So talk to them about it.
If you girl kitties have any photos of your bare bellies from when you were spayed, stop by my Facebook page and upload them! We are having a Spay Day party over there!
Yay for Spay Day! Those are some great photos of you being goofy, too.
My human spayed me I think at nine months. She didn’t take any any pictures.
I am happy to say that my three adopted cat babies have all been spayed. It makes me a little sad to know that they will never know what it’s like to pregnant or have kitties of their own, but then I think about how they were all unwanted kitties and if I had not adopted them, they would probably have ended up in a shelter and been euthanized. This happens far too much to sweet kitties around the world.
Pretty Sparkle, you are rockin that bare bellah look!
Darling, I think you must have been on the good drugs, n’est-ce pas?
We love those pix of you, especially the third one. When the mom found out it was Spay Day, it was too late to hunt for our bare belly photos. Oh well, next year…
Spaying is impawtant! There are lots of benefits! Even the farmers around us gets most of their Barb Cats spayed.

I surely DO appreciate the idea of this day because it took them 3 tries ta get me right! Ayla
We are all for spaying and neutering, Sparkle. Thanks for sharing your cute bald tummy with all of us today.
Why wouldn’t you be tearing the toy apart. After what you’d been through, something had to pay. The guy who lived upstairs from TW in the old house thought it would make him more macho not to get his male cats neutered. He had 4 of them. TW did more than talk to him. She trapped 2 of the cats and got them done. She figured he’d never know since they often stayed out all night and the vet didn’t shave her cat. Well, don’t you know that they came home with half their body shaved—and they were black tuxies. Later on, he got the other 2 done.
We posted both Truffle and Sweet Praline’s “spay bellies” on our blog today.

Happy Spay Day! Sparkle, thank you for helping spread this very important message. We wish kittehs and people everywhere realized how important it is to spay and neuter!
hee hee! you could be a centerfold model, Sparkle! Our mom took pics of Minnie’s tummy after her spay surgery cause her skin was stripey like her furs 😀 Thanks for spreading the word about Spay Day and the importance of spay/neuter!
Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, Hollie
Yay for Spay Day! We’re spayed and so is our sisfur Sadie! Thanks for spreading the word Sparkle!
We hope Spay Day gets the message across to more people.
All that hunting and killing so soon after surgery? You must have been loopy on pain meds. 🙂
Sparkle,
I am just a boy cat. No bare tummy for me. But my human had me neutered when I was at just the right age. So no late night fights for me! And even better, my human calls me her boyfriend and her husband is not even jealous. But you have such an important message to send to all humans. I hope they perk up their ears and listen.
xoxoxo
Great and impawtant post!
Shaved tummy or not, I must say, you look so gorgeous in those photos…(and how did the human get the secret messages on the photos?)
It’s been ten years for me! Sorry no pictures though!
purrs,
Mindy
We have no photos of us spayed. I got spayed before I went to the Woman’s. Ichiro was neutered before he came home with us and Gemini, well she had a shaved little belleh but there are no photos of her…
Happy World Spay Day! Thank you for this important post. Your bare belly shots are beautiful and you look very proud 🙂
The publicist thinks this is very important. She has ALWAYS gotten her kitties “fixed” as soon as they were old enough. Thank you for showing off your scar to spread the word.
I’ll ask my sisters if they’ve got any tummy shots. If so, I’ll send to your party, okay?
Our Mom is VERY much against breeding. Far too many beautiful creatures suffer because of humans’ greed, so we totally agree with your post today, Miss S.
It’s an important thing for all pets. I was lucky enough to get a dog that was pre-spayed.
Happy Say Day!
I had mine ,”spay day”,many years ago in Brazil.

We have always thought this was very, very important. Why, before my mom captured my cat mom, she was pregnant with her second litter and was still a very young cat!
The only thing my sis Olivia warns about is just don’t let the vet put a kangaroo in you when you have that surgery!
Yes, impawtant it is fur sure Sparkle! Thanks for sharing the tum today!
Great post…. I’m loving that your tummy can talk.
pawhugs, Max
I had my LadyGardenectomy and I’m sure glad I did. So is mommy.
Happy Spay Day! We both have had our surgeries and just wish more people would have it done to their cats.
We have been spayed – our RSPCA did it when they rescued us and about 100 others from a house – we don’t think the owners knew what spay and neuter meant!

Sadly, there are far too many humans who don’t think spaying/neutering is necessary. So we’re glad for things like this World Spay Day, and for more options for low-cost spaying for people in lower income brackets, etc. We won’t tell you what our human’s reaction was this past Saturday, in the grocery store, when the older man in front of her at the cash was talking about the nine puppies his dog just had. It was the first time our human’s ever spoken up, calmly giving him the low-cost spay options in town, though he wasn’t receptive. Not angry, but definitely not receptive. Our human said it was too bad he had himself hadn’t been neutered, as he likely has offspring around just like him. Ugh.
What a terrific post. The spaying and neutering is so important. It sure helps to keep kitties our of shelters if they aren’t reproducing. We will look for some bare belly pictures. Have a terrific Tues.
Happy Spay Day!!! We believe spaying is very imPURRtant!
Happy Spay Day! I am proud to say I have been spaded.
