I hear that yesterday was supposed to be Take Your Cat to Work Day. But it was listed on my calendar as June 25, which is Monday. Either way, it doesn’t matter because I’m a working cat, and I take my human to work, not the other way around! When I do my therapy cat visits, she serves as my transportation. She is my cat show assistant. Plus she is my stylist and photographer for my fashion photo shoots. As you can see, I’m a very hardworking kitty! No wonder I take my human to work — I need all the help I can get.
Most of you kitties don’t have to work like I do. But now I’m kind of curious… what if you did work? Would you want to bring your human to your job, or do you think having him or her there would be a distraction? And what would your human do while you were busy? Would they behave themselves and stay quiet, or get into trouble? Some humans need constant supervision, which would get in the way of working. I know mine would, which is why I like to keep her busy.
What about your human? If you had a job, would you want a Take Your Human to Work Day or not? Let me know in the comments.
Work is such drudgery MOL! <3
I am the official food tester in the house. If I brought my human to work with me, there would be no food left. She has the belly to prove how much she loves food. …..Miss Lulu
My cats would take me with them to work so I could do all the heavy lifting for them, like all obedient humans should do.
The cats at Catscue.com are confused Sparkle – What does WORK mean? If you meant ‘make your human WORK day’, we’ve got that one covered! We make our humans WORK everyday!
Wow, Summer, you *do* have big ‘sponsibilities! No wonder you need to take your human with you…
my job is to keep the canine in line, and snoopervise the critter TV outside…and the other household doings. I think petcretary is here to do the job of recording all of it for others, so that means I guess I need to take her to work, MOL!
Angel’s job is to growl at the fire engines and garbage trucks! She doesn’t enjoy taking her humans to work with her, because we laugh and say, “oh, how cute!” when she is trying to be mean and fierce!
Since my Mom is retired, technically EVERY DAY is take a human to work day around here. I go with Mom to her office and ALLOW her to get on her computer to do what she needs to do. Nice of me right?
Hugs, Teddy
I’m pretty sure my cat would have made me come to work with her so I could be at her beck & call at every moment of the day!
I don’t think Eric and Flynn would have appreciated my effort if I joined them at their mouse catching work.
We would take Claire with us : thumbs are always useful. Purrs
Well Summer, Princess here. I am very pretty and very smart. My Mama taught me tricks and I do very complicated puzzle boxes. She gives me special food (chronic cystitis) I refuse to eat unless it’s microwaved exactly 7 seconds, topped with very expensive kibble made by a vet for kitties like me. I follow her everywhere and I’m very annoyed by my sister from another mother, Rosie. She’s little, cute and my Mama gushes over her. I call her “The Twit” I digress. When I am rarely separated from my Mama, I get very stressed, ergo, I suppose, I would need my slave um…errr, my human to accompany me to my job
I’d bring my slaves – they could get me lunch!
SHE can only go to work with me to open a can of food. No touching! No kissing! No snuggles! In fact, do not look at me. Oh yeah, no singing!
I have a bad attitude, SHE calls it tortitude.
Signed,
TyBee
Since the dad-guy here works from home, every day is take your cat to work day! Until her passing in January, our Sophie was Hubby’s office manager. She had her own bed, her own chair, even her food and water dish in his office. The current three haven’t figured out who will take her place yet.
Believe me, TW needs all the supervising I could give her. OTOP, she’d prolly sleep all day and get in my way. I don’t like to work. I mean, I only put in a half day with Pop.
We would have the mom carry our lunch if we were working cats. 🙂
the only reason I would take my human is because she has thumbs ( to feed me)……..and…if I DID bring my Mom she would DEFINITELY get in trouble and she would NOT be quiet!
If you saw my Momma, you’d understand … she can be quite embarrassing. I prefer to pretend I don’t know her! Your human is fun to be around though. We love your tie, Summer. ~Bear Cat
I would definitely want Mommy with me because I don’t like to be alone, but she would probably hover and be a big distraction! –Mudpie
If my Sydney took me to her job (which had mostly, or all, cat employees), I’d be trying to pet all of her colleagues all day!
What a fun post. I sure enjoyed reading the comments. I, Annie, would not like to have a job, at least not one with humans or critters. If I had to work, I would like the lady along to protect me. Pierrot would like to work, at least to some extent, and he probably wouldn’t care much if the lady was there or not.
We’re CPA Cats but our dream job is to only be furniture holder downers. Tax returns aren’t near as fun as that job.
WE think we would take our Mom to work with us simply because, how else would we get there.Besides she would enjoy seeing us work for a change.
While we aren’t on the road the way you are, Summer (and boy, do you look dapper today!), we are work-out-of-our-home cats who rely on our humans as our personal assistance! They have a LONG list of tasks they must perform to keep us happy and make sure every thing functions properly – They do a decent job in our book but there is always room for improvement! For instance, the sun has been up for HOURS now and our gourmet chef have yet to prepare our homemade breakfast for us (the fast order cook slung kibble in a bowl but we prefer a personal touch!) Perhaps they can make it up to us by running around with the stick toy later – we love to watch them do that (we bat at it every now and then for their amusement!) Too hot to do more…
Hey, sleeping most of the day IS work. And for at least part of the day, our mom joins in. She’s pretty good at it, except when Elliott jumps on her and scares her awake.
Summer, your human is an inspiration for all us who have to suffer not having an assistant who can do much of anything. That said, our human assistants capture our best, and sometimes worse, moments on camera, they give us treats, operate the red dot toy, pick up all the other toys so the vacuum doesn’t get them, seem to know exactly where our best itchy spots are, let us in and out (and in and out and in and out) of the big bedroom, keep their laps warm just for us, and our sister Sunny says they give her cheese. None of the rest of us get cheese, so we’re not sure what’s up with that. Maybe we need to speak to the union or something. If we had real jobs – being a cat IS a job in itself – our humans would lie on the rug all day and night so we could walk and lay down on them, and with bags of treats and food nearby, along with toys, we wouldn’t have to beg for anything. Sounds boring in one way, heaven in another!
I would take mine just about anywhere with me, even to the Vet!
Great photo, there is a rainbow behind you 🙂
Summer you are about the only feline female I know who can rock a tie….100%
I would probably not take mom to work…she cane be rather embarrassing sometimes
Hugs madi your bfff
You’re right, Summer – humans can be very helpful. We don’t have any jobs, but we do need our human to carry all of our gear and stuff when we go on adventures. As for our humans, they both work from home a lot of the time, so we are usually always with them at work! We know they like that a lot.
What a pawtastic topic for a post! Okay… so if I had a job, I would want to take our mom with me. She could be my chauffer, and I need her thumbs to open the food packages for meals and treats. I could give her tasks on the side to keep busy, like comment on our friends’ blogs and edit our photos. I also need her lap and shoulder for a comfy place to take a break.
There is that whole lack of thumbs things which makes having a human always available an asset.
Chanel says it isn’t a bad thing to have the human along – she has thumbs
We can’t say we have ever considered this, Summer. Beebs would probably want to go on his own. Genji would insist that #1 come with him. And Queen Tama does not believe in working!
Purrs,
The Chans
We definitely want a “take your human to work day”. In times of stress she can give us pets, treats, and lunch of course. She’s a great mom and we think it would be nice to take her to work with us. Plus maybe she could pick up some new tips from other humans. Purrs
I’d take her BUT: she’d be a nuisance and a distraction plus she would interfere!
We would take Mom with us. Mostly because she can drive the car and give us treats.
The Florida Furkids
Oh noooooooo, it would be far too much trouble to take ours. The things she woukd get into!!
As long as mom feeds us treats, she can come along. We’re not sure she could keep up with Vashti when she’s hunting….
Julie often likes to go to the porch and work at hunting mice.
She would not want to take mum to work because mum would be too noisy.
She is not very good at stealth and sitting very still for periods of time.
Best is she stays away.
Purrs Georgia,Julie and JJ
Summer,
I fink mine Lady would be a noosense at mine job!

Harvey says mum would like his job, as senior heated bed tester, he’s on to a winner!
