My human has been learning how to make art from photographs with Photoshop, and she experimented with a picture of me. She just grabbed this one at random, even though it is (in graphic terms) “small” and “lo-res” (language that means it only looks good on a webpage, not printed out).
She started off by turning it into a pen and ink drawing — trust me, this would have looked a lot better if she had used the higher quality copy of this image, but she was too lazy to hunt it down.
The pencil sketch version came out better… although I still say it would have looked even nicer if a higher-res image was used.
If she had been doing it for real, she also would have removed most the busy stuff going on in the background along with using a better quality image. Do you like it? She had fun and is thinking of adding some art to my Zazzle store (and maybe even making a Zazzle store for herself).
Love both of them, we think she should put them in your store!
Looks good ! Have you done this with real photo shop or with Picasa !
BTW I first was at WordPress, but found it too complicated, meanwhile they changed too. I am talking about 2006 ! I don’t know why these hositing companies always want to improve !
My human used Photoshop CS5.1 to do them, and had to create a variety of layers and smart filters, etc. – they are way more complicated than anyone who has messed around with Picasa or one of the other simpler programs might think! But the results are worth it – just one simple filter will not get it right.
Sometimes my Human starts playing with photoshop and forgets to freaking feed me. Fortunately, most of her “creations” never see the light of day. I like the pencilly-looking one.
But you look best just like you are. Why do the Humans think they can “improve” us???
TW fools with all those filters in Photoshop but usually don’t like them enough to keep them. I like that bottom sketch of you.
Sparkle
WE likey!

They both look great, but you always do Sparkle.
cool, Sparkle! we like the pencil drawing. Our mom finally got Photoshop Elements and she’s been trying to figure all of the different features. Some different pen, pencil, or watercolor effects would make nice cards 🙂
Pip, Smidgen, MInnie, Hollie
We like the pencil art one but we love the first one of you untouched in your natural beauty!
Mommie really needs to learn how to use photoshop! I want a pencil sketch!
The publicist is useless at photoshop. She cannot remember how to work it no matter how often she tries. Stupid publicist’s brain
Well now, who doesn’t love Sparkle art?!?!
You´re a handosme guy!!!! Anyway!
Ahem, I am a GIRL kitty, not a guy!
I LOVE the pencil sketch version!!! There’s a lot of cool filters to play with in Photoshop. They work really nicely with your fur tones too. I’ve had some trouble with my black and white furs sometimes. I should play more though!
There’s one called Poster Edges that is pretty cool too!
xo Katie & Glogirly
we like both of those….too bad our mom has NO talent… 🙂
Sparkle, our human like playing with photo-editing too but nothing is more beautiful than than a natural you! Of the the three, the pencil sketch works the best and the graininess adds nice texture.
How neat is that!
Sparkle, you look marvelous in all the photos your human did on the photoshop.
Oh! I’ve been doing this for YEARS, honestly…it’s so much FUN! This is what I do in my calendars every year.
Here’s a link to them on Shutterfly if you’d like to see them: http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=1db9d64e89b1604b&sid=0AbMXDFm3as2Ly4
These are very cool!
That is lovely. The Woman has a lot of fun with our images on photoshop–and putting other images together to make interesting things.
They look pretty good, but the Sparkle, I think you are a most beautiful cat! I have to be careful what I say though, Callie has ginsu knives…
Queen Penelope is still not 100% so I am visiting today. Thanks for sending purrs, they really help. She has been using the litter box and even though the lumps are smaller than normal, at least they are lumps.
Have a great day!
Kozmo
I love them very much! And what a fun…I love playing with photos like this too.
Nice job. The photos look nice. Of course you’re a good model.
That is some really cool stuff! The pen-an-ink drawing makes you look a lot like a lion.
looks great!! Did you know that you could do the same thing on the now defunct picnik.com? You can also do it on picmonkey.com for free 🙂
Sweetie you are gorgeous no matter WHAT media is used to depict you! 🙂 🙂
Have a pawsome weekend, my furriend!
PURRS!
Selina
I do like them , they are lovely. Mum said she will have to have a try.. Hugs J xx
Well done!!!!
I’ve had photoshop for a year now and I can hardly do anything….will have to take a course.
We think your Mom did a great job or your pencil sketch
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
We like the pencil sketch filter better. 🙂
Our mom has only Elements, but even that has a good selection of filters. Not that she ever bothers to play around with them.
It’s not A filter – it’s a series of different filters, gaussian blur and various tricks. It’s actually kind of complicated!
We like it!! Your Mom is talented! Of course, she has the purrfect subject to work with!
The Florida Furkids
I do like those pictures. I wish our Mom had the patience to learn how to do that photoshop. She tried but then gave up, the sissy. But I like those pictures. Take care.
We think that is a very cool technique, Sparkle. You make a great art subject.
The fun thing about the pen and ink drawing version 9which we love) is that you look quite like a wild animal, Sparkle!
Purrs,
The Chans
