I’m sure you’ve seen lots of those pet shaming memes on social media. Do you hate them as much as I do? They started when Sparkle was still around. She was tempted to start her own #CatBragging hashtag, in which cats were praised for the awesome things they did.
Sparkle never got around to making her meme a reality. But now Purina has come up with a great meme for National Pet Month. They are celebrating with the hashtag #PetPraising, in which everyone shows off the ways in which their pets have enhanced their lives. Because I do more than just enhance lives in my own home, I made up a special #PetPraising sign.
I love that I am able to be a therapy cat, and bring happiness to people who are sick and stressed out.
But you know, all cats are therapy cats. Some just do it in the privacy of their own home — and that is more than enough, and deserves lots of praise.
Hm. Some kitty here does not think she gets enough praising.
I do have to say, learning how to walk on a leash well into her golden years is quite an accomplishment! And it does deserve a lot of praise (even if she did learn by watching me). Binga sets an amazing example for senior pets, and proves that, given half a chance, your cat or dog will exceed your expectations!
The best part of the #PetPraising hashtag? You can use it for your own pets — and get a chance to be on the RealSimple website! Just visit Purina’s PureLoveForPets #PetPraising page, and download your own template, like the one we have here. (The whole PureLoveForPets site is a great resource for celebrating National Pet Month.) Write down something special your kitty (or dog or bunny or herp) does for you, and enter your pet in the contest. (You can also make the sign digitally when you upload the photo.) The contest runs through May 24, and the winning pet and their human will be featured in a professional photo shoot for the RealSimple website. I would love to see more kitties entered, because I know how much you do for your humans! Good luck.
