As those of you on Facebook know, it is getting harder and harder to see posts from your favorite pages there. In fact, I have been having such a difficult time reaching my Facebook fans that I got mad and made an infographic! I used a pretty awesome platform called Pictochart.com — you can use the free version if you don’t mind their watermark at the bottom, and if you have ever made a presentation, it is about equal in ease/ difficulty (depending on which side of techie you sit) as PowerPoint or Keynote. Admittedly, it is more of a WORDographic since I basically wrote a blog post and slapped on some graphics, but it’s still pretty cool!
Even if you are not on Facebook, it is worth checking out because it has a little bit about my other social media presences, and something about ways to read my blog other than actually coming here. (If it doesn’t appear at first, refresh the page.)
Note: After she went to bed (with her iPhone), my human realized that people with mobile devices may have a problem seeing the infographic on my blog. This link to it on the Pictochart site may work better: https://magic.piktochart.com/output/1609510-why-facebook-is-hiding-me-from-y
Disclosure: The Pictochart link is an affiliate link, in case you ever want to pay for the program.
Thanks for the info Sparkle. Wes is not really a fan of facebook. Wes did not like some of the things they started to do a few years ago and Mommy took her own site down then. And frankly, mes is only on it for the grandkids…..
Wes is furry happy to be a Follower of Sparkle!
Kisses
Nellie
You are just awesome. I have been reading about all this, and it wears me out. Thank you for such a brilliant info-graphic! I am still going to get feedly working right – or maybe it is now – or…I just don’t know. I keep trying very hard to become a techie and so far, Scooter the cat is way ahead of me.
No WAY do we make enough on our paper route to pay for that kinda kibble FB is demanding! *HUFF*
I don’t do FB either but, I do RSS you. Have for several years now. You are on my home page. I also get your newsletters via email, too. I don’t want to miss anything. 🙂
Meowma, Jasmine, Joey, Eddie & Rosie
You did a fantastic job on your first ever infographic!
Miss Sparkle – thank you for this. Your figures need to be quoted far and wide to show people they are deluded if they pay FB for ads. I am shocked rigid at the amount you would have to spend. Imagine a small rescue finding THAT kind of money – and would they spend it on advertising??? NO WAY!!!!
How dare Facebook hide any entries you post Sparkle! This is very interesting info so thanks for posting. My human and I are really frustrated by FB. We spend most of our time now hanging out on Instagram. Meow and Namaste! Pippy the Feline Yogini
We gets you from the emails Sparkle..that is a nasty thing for facecrook to do..HAHA..Baby Tali made a funny..FACECROOK.. 😈 They is jerks Sparkle!
Oh this reminds us to LIKE you on Facebook!
That’s really neat! We aren’t FB members so we get to see you here 🙂
Wow! That’s an incredible infographic! FB is messing up our pages too and we can’t afford to pay them so we don’t know what to do.
Wow! Even though we have a FB page, we aren’t going to pay for it. We’ll just keep blogging and use the Cat Blogosphere.
That sounds like a stinky thing for Facebook to do. Since we get your posts via e-mail, we are safe and shouldn’t miss anything. Mommy wants to know how you keep up with so much social media? She can barely keep up with our blog and Cat Scouts! XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Cool infographic. We follow you with Feedly. It’s too hard to keep up with everyone anywhere else.
My mum is on FB but we don’t go on there too much. We follow you with Feedly.
I hate when they keep changing things on FB. I miss a lot of posts even though I liked them. I will follow you wherever you are Sparkle.
FB is being very stupid here. PS: We just signed up for the newsletter! Can’t wait for the first one.
Facebook is being really stinky to us bloggers. I love your graphic. I may have to do something similar to explain this to my audience.
Great infographic! We’re reminded constantly lately how ridiculous Facebook is being about that! If people like your page, then they WANT to see the things that are posted by that page! For FB to show only certain pages is silly.
I already follow you with Feedly, and I’m glad to do so ! 35 $ per day, it’s crazy ! Your info graphic is super ! Purrs. Zorro
Super job Sparkle. You gave us all lots to think about.
You are really on the ball Sparkle! Good job. You gave us all lots to think about.
Super infographic. I like the way Pumpkinpuddy thinks. As it is, I hardly see any of my furrends on FB unless I look them up. TW only has a couple of FB friends and she never sees most of them either. Pffftttt! on FB.
MeWowZa! Great info graphic! Good job in spreading the word about FB’s weenieness and all the ways we can find you, too! You Rock!
You tell it girl!! We do think it is sad that the little groups and individuals are getting screwed (pardon our french) by greed. We will stay on facebook but it is frustrating….. (and we can’t see the infographic from mom’s work computer (she had to click on the link) but that is probably the computer….)
It is ridiculous. The publicist thinks that if they want to charge they should come up with one of their famous algorithms for big businesses and small blogs and the like and develop a reasonable fee schedule appropriate to user base and user rather than assuming Sparklecat is the same as PetSmart.
I think the publicist thinks too much
I’m using the Digg reader now – the others make you pay if you have more than 100 blogs to follow… I know you can’t get something for nothing but…
I agree with Brian! And it serves them right! Love the post Sparkle and I will do something like this too I think. I also may try Feedly or Bloglovin for following, maybe we can keep up better using those than follow by email.
PAWsome Infographic you have made Sparkle !
XOXO
Somehow your infographic wont’ show up, even after refreshing the screen.
Will try to check again later!
I never ‘like’ anything on FB anyway. I use feedly so I never miss your blog!
I agree that there should be different fee structures for different entities. A shelter shouldn’t be paying the same kind of fees that Amazon pays! In fact, FB should donate promoting posts to 501(c)3 organizations and use that for a tax write off.
Gees…Just as well we’re not on Facebook. We give them all 8 paws down for that, Sparkle.
I will follow you where ever you are, Sparkle!!!!!
One of these days I expect the advertisers will only see other advertisers!
Love your info graphic, hate what facepoo is doing. Just when mom was happy a couple of her pages were getting likes. MOL owell. She noticed not as many people comment on her own profile posts anymore either. Somefing is rotten like yesterdays fish!
Where did you learn to do that? You are soooo smart how could we not follow you?
Devoted fan, Noodle
What a great idea for helping everyone understand what Facebook is doing!
We’ve been struggling with it too. …and WOW, almost $10K just to have your likes see your posts??? That’s just crazy.
; )
Terrible terrible. Bloggers need to find a new platform. Facebook, you’re going down! Thanks for the infographic! – Crepes.
very cool Sparkle! Also…………check out rebel mouse!
That is excellent, Sparkle. We fail to understand why FaceBook are so intent on pissing off so many of their users so regularly with everything from arbitrary changes in how pages look (as though we all suffered from ADHD) or endlessly pushing their stupid games at us. It’s a contsnat project to manage FB, despite their attempts at preventing us from doing so.
Purrs,
The Chans
Well, we think this is furry impressive, Sparkle. You are one hi-tek kitty! We are trying to a-member to ‘Like’ things so that we continue to see our friends on Facebook and don’t let the money-grubbers mess things up too much. Sigh.
We had the big FAIL with your lyrics challenge–we knew they were from some punk-type band, but we confess we had to Google. However, it was all worth it for the phrase “star-belly sneech” which the Human intends to incorporate immediately into her “can-be-used-in-school-because-there-are-no-obvious-curse-words” vocabulary. Ha ha meow!
Cool use of an infographic! We are so torn about Facebook….it’s our least favorite social media platform and I can’t imagine at this point budgeting $35 or more to it.
That’s excellent, Sparkle. We don’t like what FB is doing either to our pages.
SPARKLE YOU ARE A TECHIE!!!
HUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
$35 a day is nuts! I wouldn’t think anyone would pay that. If they start charging individual people, my mom and dad are out of there!
Hmm….seems we are the only ones so far that can’t see your infographic… We tried to refresh the page. Wonder why it isn’t coming up.
We always click on your links from the CB linkies posts 🙂
We’ll keep up with you through email if nothing else too!!!
Gee, that is something about FB we did not know.
We kitties are not on FB as Mom does not have time.
We really like your infographic though 🙂
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure, JJ
and Angels Tiger and Tillie
That’s excellent!
Think we might have a go at that 🙂
We aren’t on face book or twitter so we can’t like you there – sorry but we do have your news letter.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
