Last Chance to Chipin for Winging Cat Rescue

October 25, 2010 By: Sparkle Cat13 Comments

Every kitty deserves a good home!My month-long drive to raise funds for Winging Cat Rescue is nearing an end and I’m nowhere near the goal I was hoping for. Of course, when there’s an “urgent” need, such as kitties on death row with the clock ticking down, it’s easier to step up and give. The thing you may not realize is that rescues are pretty much in “urgent” mode all the time. Once those death row kitties get rescued, the fosters often discover they need more vet care than they budgeted for and costs add up. And Winging Cat Rescue also funds spay and neuter vouchers, and that goes a long way to stop the cat overpopulation problem before it starts! Plus they fund vaccinations for shelter cats, which helps keep them healthy and adoptable. In a shelter full of stressed-out, newly-homeless cats, disease can spread quickly, resulting in many cats getting sick and being euthanized before they have a chance to find a new home.

So as you can see, cat rescue involves more than just grabbing a cat or kitten off of death row and giving it temporary housing. It’s about keeping the rescued cats healthy, keeping the cats still at the shelter adoptable, and it’s about working to stop the overpopulation problem in its tracks through spay and neuter. All these elements work together, and they are all necessary if the U.S. someday wants to be a no-kill nation. Groups like Winging Cat Rescue are on the front lines of this battle. So if you have anything to give before the end of October, please use the Chipin Widget to your right. Even a couple of dollars helps — we’re talking skipping your morning latte or afternoon snack for one day. The money goes directly from the Chipin widget to Winging Cat Rescue.

By the way, my human has donated the money from my book launch. She actually kicked in some extra money. But that’s not reflected in the Chipin — this is separate. Can you come up with a little something extra too?

Purrmeister reminded me that without good fosters and vet care, little guys like him wouldn’t have a chance to join happy homes like ours!! Keep up the great work, Sparkle! You’re a great spokeswoman and we gave a small donation too!

Hi Sparkle, it really is terrific that you are doing all this for that shelter. Our Mom made a small donation since we don’t have many green papers. But we will post about some of the animals after we read more about it.
    Have a fun week.

It is showing contributions for today on my browser. It may take some time for the Chipin to update for everybody.
