The Kitty Workout!

May 18, 2017 By: Summer Samba41 Comments

somali cat sitting on new weight bench

One day, all this equipment appeared in the enclosed patio. My human’s boyfriend spent an afternoon messing with it to get it assembled. It’s supposed to be workout equipment for humans, but I decided to come up with a Kitty Workout so we cats can use it too.

somali cat checks out workout bench

I put a lot of time and thought into this workout so I hope you appreciate it!

somali cat rubbing on exercise bench

Before starting your workout, you need to rub on all the exercise equipment so any other cat who happens by knows that it belongs to you.

somali cat with 25 lb. weight

Next you should pick a weight that is challenging, but not so heavy that you can’t do reps with good form. Unfortunately, this 25-lb. weight does not qualify. It’s too heavy for me. Maine Coons weigh that much, and I know I can’t pick up one of them!

somali cat sitting next to 25 lb. weight

When you are done using your weights, always put them away so other kitties and humans don’t trip on them.

somali cat on balance bar

You can use this part of the weight bench to develop your balance and grace.

somali cat practicing her balance

You can also use this part to work on your balance. It is actually kind of hard!

somali cat stretching on weight bench to finish her kitty workout

When you are done with your workout, always make sure you stretch! Stretching reduces muscle fatigue and helps decrease post-workout soreness.

I hope you enjoyed my Kitty Workout, and will add it to your exercise routine!

I’d sign up immediately if you were teaching the class BUT know what? I actually think I could handle this anyway – I love to stretch, run (especially run), and while the heaviest weight I lift is only the weight of a catanip mouse, I bet I could do more than that! Thanks for inspiring me Summer!
