We kitties can’t vote, so it’s important that our humans do! And midterm and “special” elections are especially important. The weird thing is that humans don’t think so and they often skip them. Especially in years when they are fed up with the politicians who are in Washington and they don’t like who is running. That is not an excuse to avoid the polls! There is a lot of important stuff that goes on that will make a difference in your lives — propositions, local offices, judges and stuff that maybe you humans consider “boring.” But let me tell you a secret: these are the very things that make the most difference in your lives. The local politicians and propositions are the ones who determine the day-to-day quality of life in your town, how good your schools are, how quickly street repairs get done, whether any changes can get made at your local animal control facility — even how many cats you are allowed to have! Don’t you want to make sure you have a voice in all that, and elect people and vote for propositions that will make some of these things work in your favor (and your cats’ favor)? Of course, voting for those Washington humans is important, but you will feel the most impact from all the other things on that ballot.
My human looked over her sample ballot, did her homework and made sure she marked off every single item. And because her boyfriend is kind of lazy when it comes to voting, she made sure he did the same thing. (I think it is called “nagging.”) They like voting in person because it is a pleasant stroll through our pretty neighborhood to get to their polling place. They may stop somewhere to have dinner on the way back.
Binga and Boodie feel the same way I do. Binga, however, does not agree with everything that my human is voting on, so she is standing on her sample ballot. I don’t think that is going to stop her from voting though.
Boodie is trying to pretend she knows what is going on in this election, but I think that is stretching it a bit.
She even believes humans still vote by pulling on a lever! That shows how out of touch she is.
Don’t be out of touch! If you live in the U.S. and were thinking of not bothering to vote today, please reconsider! It is elections like these where your vote really counts!
My Human went and voted already but she didn’t tell me what she did or didn’t vote for. I think that’s kind of mean, but she said I wouldn’t “understand’! As if! I just don’t care is all!
The only Human I need to worry about is her, and I think she’s pretty much wrapped around my little paw, so it’s all good.
Well said, Sparkle! we went to vote this morning, not as big of a crowd and no line. You make good point about reading all the special things that get added to these so called little votes, that some sneaky types will try to get something passed because they expect a low turn out. It would be terrible to wake up and find out that because your human was to lazy or what ever excuse they use that they did not vote that they find out a new law was passed and no more kitties are allowed ! Some humans think it can’t happen, they are dumb, you set them straight, get out & vote! Everytime!
What?! Humans voted by pulling a lever? Well, you learn something new everyday, thanks Sparkle, that is so interesting! :3
Here here! Our mom voted on her way home from work. What’s that they say, if you didn’t vote, don’t complain about the government?
-Pip, Smidgen, Minnie
Our Mama says she’s voted in every election since she’s been old enough to vote. And that’s a LOT of elections!
OUCH! Siouxsie! Don’t thwap me! I’m not saying Mama’s old, I’m just saying she’s been a very diligent voter.
Anyway, Mama says everyone should go out and vote today. Except for the people who disagree with her–they’re supposed to vote tomorrow. Tee hee hee!
yeah, my people voted after lunch. we live in Virginia!
Mom did not study the voter guide so she had to think about two questions.
luckily she was in the handicapped voting station so she had a chair to sit in and think it over.
she voted yes on one and no on the other.
Today was a great day, and we are excited to see who winned tonight!

We voted today and made Daddy take our vote to the ballot drop off box since there are no polling places here in Oregon. We’re glad that you, Binga and Boodie are all so involved in the voting process too!
Momma voted but she said we can’t on account of we’re too young. and we’re cats.
That is an important message, Sparkle! My mommeh and dad voted earlier today. It is a good feeling to vote!
GREAT JOB GETTING THE BEANS OUT TO VOTE!
The publicist and male person are going to vote this afternoon. Thank you for making this important announcement
We fully agree and my humans are out casting their vote. Love the pictures.
Ms K
Isn’t wonderful that we can all have our beliefs, but love others even if their beliefs are not the same as ours????????/

Oh yes – Binga and I certainly don’t agree on everything! Or hardly anything, for that matter.
Our humans vote permanent absentee, so they mailed their ballots in about two weeks ago. That way on election day they don’t have to rush to the polling place after work. We’re excited because we are so sick of the negative tv ads for the candidates!
Our humans always vote, but I’m voting for you Sparkle!!!
It’s cool because in Oregon we have vote by mail, so us kitties get to snoopervise the voting process. I helped mom and dad do their voting and I didn’t whap the ballots to the floor. Then they promised me they would drop them off at the drop box which they did yesterday. I can purr and nap now.
You TELL ‘EM, Sparkle! Whoo hoo … voting is ONE thing those humans CAN do to have a say about all the craziness that is going on. GET OUT AND VOTE!!
The right to vote is a privilege! I hope all your fellow Americans vote today 🙂
Our mom will vote today but she says she’s glad this election will finally be over because she is SO tired of all the political ads!!
Good advice! We plan to vote today!

Bravo Sparkle! It is SO important for people everywhere who CAN vote, should vote. Regardless of your party affiliations – it is important for Mums and Dads to exercise their democratic rights to select the person of their choice. There was a time when only people who could buy lots of noms had this right, now it’s you and I and our Mums and Dads – so GO VOTE US citizens.
