My human saw on Facebook that Basepaws (the company that offers Cat DNA tests) was having a yoga class event online. It was being held live on their Facebook page, and titled “Beginner’s Yoga (with Cats),” so I had to join in. Even if I am not a beginner.
I couldn’t wait to get started! And neither could my human.
Some of the poses were totally easy, like Cat Pose. But my human had complaints. Mainly that I was in the way of her own yoga practice.
But she had a solution! I have my own yoga mat. So she brought it out and set it in front of the TV so we could do yoga together.
I thought that worked out pretty well. We both had a good view of what the yoga instructor was doing.
I confess, I did lose track of what the instructor was doing sometimes because I wasn’t always looking at the TV. Or listening to her instructions.
Plus not all the poses were cat friendly! I could not figure out how to do Warrior Pose.
I got bored partway through and decided I was done. My human said I was too distracting. Fortunately, the class is still on the Basepaws page so she can go back to it.
If you want to try the yoga class yourself, do it! Baseline has classes periodically, and you can donate (although you don’t have to), with the money going to a cat cafe and rescue.
I actually love doing yoga with my human for real! Does your cat join in when you’re on the mat? Let me know in the comments.

Love your little yoga mat!
I’m usually napping when my mum does yoga.
My Mom’s various and sundry aches and pains from arthritis and back issues mean even yoga (which she totally loves) is difficult. BUT she and her Mom took yoga for several years together a long time ago and she really loved it. I think it’s cool you have your own mat – I bet you do yoga more often than your Human thinks you do!!!
Hugs, Teddy
Oh Lord Summer. It’s nearly impossible to do yoga with kitties. They really get too involved. They start rubbing my hands looking for scratches. They get under me in a pose and plop down under me. Still it makes me laugh and have fun. I cannot imagine nor do I ever want to know life without a cat. I was 7 when I got my Tiger. I begged from when I was 3. I called any aniyinef mal kitty. Guess I was destined to be a cat person for life
TW joins in sometimes when I’m napping. MOL! She should be yoga to de-stress right now.
Dad sure misses being able to get onto the floor and do things like Yoga. He still can when he dreams so maybe tonight
When I do floor exercises, Dalton always comes to try and lick my face and to snuggle…sheesh!
Benji thinks its time to romp all over me!
We bet you could have led the class, Summer. Our mom is so NOT flexible it’s embarrassing to watch her do yoga.
You are your human find such fun things to do together!

Ha ha, well you did great. Ella was always angry whenever I did yoga. I’m not sure why but she would become furious and attack. Her sister would lay on the chair watching all this. Unfortunately sweet Ella went OTRB in December and sister has now taken on the role of “you can’t do that while I’m here” whenever I do yoga.
I would really prefer it if she would go back to ignoring me during yoga!
Cats are true yoga masters, except for a very few poses like the warrior, no wonder you got bored : it was too easy for you ! How cool that you have your own yoga mat ! Purrs
Great job Summer and catmom! Yoga is our thing too in our household. We attended a Basepaws yoga class last month and loved it. With our help mom was rocking along (trying to get around us, LOL). Great pics Summers. Love your moves honey! Happy Monday Funday! Purrs
I’ll bet you are really good at yoga sweet Summer!
You look good doing yoga but I’m pretty sure my back
wouldn’t let me do some of the poses. (Even though yoga
is supposed to help back problems.). I expected to see you
doing some stretches!
Summer, there is no way I could do yoga around Da Boyz, but Sweetie doesn’t seem to mind.
She stays on her bed…well, my bed…and ignores.
Except when she hears voices, like during Zoom meetings, then she wants to get in a few ideas of her own, at the top of her voice!
How cool that you have your own yoga mat. I don’t do yoga, my hubby and I tried a 6 week class once and I did not like it. The instructor did say I was bendy though. 🙂
Mom is going to check that out. It’s cool that you have your own mat!

I probably would have been distracting to my mom too if I had pawticipated. But the mom says she’s going to go back and check it out.
Summer! You surprised me today! Love seeing you do that yoga posing and I think it was excellent. Of course, me or mom don’t know how, but we know you did well anyway. She picked a new to her Keoni workout yesterday and she thought she got caught in a blender! That was enough for her after doing the first workout. .
How cool that you do yoga with your purrson 🙂
I agree that not all poses are cat friendly .
However, we cats have poses of our own that keep us limber 😉
