Did you know that yesterday was Take Your Cat to the Vet Day? And can you guess what I did?
Yep, I went to the vet clinic! It was time for my annual health screening, which is required by my therapy pet organization. But no matter — we kitties should see the vet yearly anyhow. And senior kitties like Boodie should go more often. (Boodie, in fact, is overdue for a checkup.)
Sadly, way too many humans don’t take their cats to the vet for regular checkups, and it’s really a necessity. If something is going on with your cat, you want to catch it before it starts being a problem. For example, finding gingivitis early on and getting a dental then is way cheaper than finding it later on, when an extraction might be required. Not to mention your cat would be in pain that whole time. And for things like kidney disease, you want to know if it is developing as soon as possible so you can do things to keep the numbers down as long as you can.
In case you are wondering, I weigh just a hair under 7 lbs. And I purred happily for the first part of the vet visit… then I realized they were going to do some not fun things. I didn’t struggle or protest too much, but I was not going to purr after that thermometer thing! Anyhow, I passed my health screening, so I am free to do therapy visits for another year.
So that the trip wasn’t a total bummer for me, my human took me to the pet store.
I felt she should have bought me a new scratcher for being such a good kitty at the vet, but she just bought some cat food and treats.
I do want to say that the pet store staff treated me like a rock star! They got all excited and took photos of me and petted me lots. Actually, the staff at the vet clinic got excited that I was there too, even though I got poked and prodded. So it wasn’t really a bad day after all.

I’ll bet that ALL humans are happy to see you, Summer.
Good job Summer, none of us (humans included) enjoy these visits, but they are very necessary
Well, at least you didn’t get abducted and sent up into the mother ship. I’m glad you got in and out of that clinic without loosing any sense of time. I’m one of those kitties that has kidney disease, so Mom and the V-E-T monitor my health off and on throughout the year.
I’m so-o glad that you can continue to do what you luv, Summer Sweets! Purr purr purr.
We’re glad everything went well at the vet ! The thermometer thing, yuk…. You deserve that new scratcher ! Purrs
You are such a tiny petite young lady my dear. Our foster kitten Ryan weighs more than you and he’s only 8 months, MOL. Mom is slowly taking us in too, one at a time since there’s so many of us. We are so happy to hear you got a purrfect health record. Kept us updated on Boodie. Purrs
Summer,
Yoo are such a good kitty!

Thomas had his semiannual senior kitty exam earlier this month. He’s doing great for an 18-year old kitty. He has kidney disease and hyperthyroidism, but both conditions have been stable for a few years now. Thank you, Summer, for reminding people of the importance of vet visits.
Well you are a rock star of the kitty world Summer so of course they were happy to see you and its always good to get a clean bill of health too,xx Speedy
I get my annual vet visit in February near my adoption date. Mum always takes her new kits to the vet after adoption to double check we are healthy.
Glad you are in top form. Tell your hooman to get Boodie to the vet soon!
Our vet has a new thermometer that she sticks in an ear…. MUCH more pleasant than the old style… For the record, we still do not like our annual visit.

You’re a star everywhere you go, Summer! (We think you should have gotten a new scratcher, though.)
I am glad the vet visit went well. You totally deserve the scratcher though.
You look really p.o.’d in that first picture in the pet store!
I noticed that too. At first I thought it was another kitty!
You’re a star, Summer!
Glad the vet visit went well 🙂
We get real quiet after the thermometer business, too. Glad you at least got treats though. We just get brought home. Which is sort of a treat after the scary visit and strangers and PTUs and doggy smells and all that other stuff…
What a bummer! I’m a senior but I only go once a year for a wellness visit cos each visit seems to use of one of my lives. It takes the vet tech and Pop to hold me down for the anal probe thing. Dr. D. doesn’t like Pop helping cos he doesn’t have the big gloves and she doesn’t want him to get bit. You did deserve toys after that.
You should have got the new scratcher – there was a thermometer involved after all!
I had no idea that there was a take your cat to the vet day. I’ll have to remember that for next year, but I don’t think Johnny will be too thrilled. LOL
That thermometer… Yech! I don’t blame you one bit for not liking that. But we all know how important these visits are.
I didn’t know there was a Take Your Cat to the Vet Day!
Your fame proceeded you, my furriend! No wonder everyone was so happy to see you!
Purrz!

On Tuesday, we had dental surgery and our yearly shots, so we were not too thrilled with the Vet this week!…We’re so glad you had a good health screening, sweet Summer…TGIF!!…XO…Halle, Sukki
OMCs Summer you do have an M on your noggin.
I know you gave every member of your Vet team a great big smile when you visited them.
Hugs Cecilia
Summer, we’ve had a hard time finding a really good vet to take our clowder to, but Angel went less than a year ago, and we’ll take her again in October; she’s 15 now, and that makes her elderly. Glad you passed your exam, and you need that scratcher!
We’re glad your visit to the VET turned out okay. We don’t like that temperature thingy either.
The Florida Furkids
I am glad the Vet Clinic confirmed your amazing trim weight and beauty.
You are the star attraction no matter where you go sweet Summer!
Mom and I…we would be furry happy to see you. You are a rock star for sure to us.
Summer, you are a rock star! And I’d love to be in your entourage!
Everyone is happy to see you and of course they want to
pet you. Glad you got a good checkup.
You certainly are good at shopping.
Yay for a good checkup!
We go to the Vet twice a year and they are pretty nice.
We are not crazy about it but ,but we tolerate the visits pretty well 🙂
Purrs,Georgia,Julie and JJ
We’re glad you got a clean bill of health. At least you got treats. You deserve the new scratcher.
I am glad your vet visit went well and you got a clean bill of health. Of course you should have had the new scratcher after the indignity of the thermometer.
