According to my editorial calendar, Sunday, February 22 is “Walking the Cat Day.” I was confused by this, since I couldn’t find any reference to it anywhere online. Finally, my human remembered: February 22 is actually “Walking the DOG Day,” but she felt that was unfair, so she marked it down as “Walking the Cat Day.” So yeah, I went out for a walk a couple of days early. But first we had to stop at the pet store and do some shopping. My human said I did not need a litter box this big. I disagree — you can never be too rich or have too big of a litter box!
It’s amazing, how many different brands and types of litter there are! But to be honest, I think most of these companies are trying to impress humans more than the really important ones — us kitties!
I finally got fed up with being stuck in the litter section and took off. My human had no choice but to follow me.
I turned a corner and walked right down a private hallway. I didn’t care — as a kitty, I can do whatever I want.
My human said we were not supposed to be there, but I ignored her.
I was a little disappointed there was nobody in there. I was hoping for some pets and admiration.
On the way back, my human finally stopped and we went for a walk. She took me somewhere I’d never been before. Well, I had passed by it, but only in the car, so it didn’t look familiar.
We walked on both sides of the street and every time a car passed by and I didn’t try to bolt, she told me how good I was being. Sometimes several cars passed by at once. A few people slowed down to look at me and talk to my human.
My human says it is important I get a lot of practice being out and walking on my leash because I am going on a big adventure next month! It is going to be busy and noisy and I need to be prepared.

Oh Summer, you are such a well-behaved, brave kitty…great walk you went on and we can’t wait to find out what your big adventure will be!
Were very proud of you, Summer! And you look very cute in your harness.
Love,
Lola and Lexy
NO treat´s ??!!
Me neither gets scared by cars or motorcycles , but if i hear a woffie I run for my life !!
XOXO
Being able to walk on a leash must mean that you’ll be able to go on many adventures.
Summer, we’re SO proud of you! You’re doing such a great job with your harness and leash. And you’re having fun too!
: )
It looks like you had a lot of fun. She should have bought you some treats though.
How cool that you got to go walking, Summer. And we’re impressed at how well you behaved. Well, except for when you went into the employee’s room.
Whoa! Look at all the places you go and it’s not even photoshopped! Did your human carry the litter up the hill too?
I wonder what your big adventure will be? You did great on the leash – Toby loves being on a leash – well, not really, but he loves being outside and that is the only way he can go outside is on a leash. He gets lots of looks and questions, too, when he is outside walking!
Summer you are a terrific kitty to be so confident so young. Your harness just looks so comfy…not that I would want one…just a compliment
You’re doing so well on your harness and leash, Summer! What a good girl not to bolt at all those cars going past, although we do see that your tail was mostly down. That’s how Tabby is with cars going past, too, although sometimes she just simply lays down on the sidewalk and won’t budge! We love that you told your mom exactly what you thought of being stuck in the litter section with no treats! (And we agree with you that the break room should’ve had a kitty in it.) We can’t wait to read how you do on your big adventure! Mommy is planning on meeting you, too.
Until recently I had never heard of harness for cats or taking cats for a walk but think both are a great idea
You look like you own the place, Summer! Oh, I forgot! You do!!!
Summer, I can’t imagine anyone not stopping when they saw you!
You look like a pro in your harness already. Oooh, where are you going next month? WE can’t wait for your next adventure.
Sweetie, I read a little book that had an Abyssinian kitty in it whose color is like yours. She was a detective. xoxo
Looks like a fun adventure!
You are quite the rebel Summer! You are adorable even when you are giving off some cattitude. 🙂 I love that you are leash trained. It just motivates me to see if I can get Manna to do it.
Awesome job, Summer! You are so calm and confident when you’re in new situations!
You’re doing very well, Summer ! You look so relaxed in the store and walking on the street, we’re impressed ! Purrs
well you went for a great walk and saw lots of goodies I never thought of training any of my cats on a leash and I bet Baby would have loved going although he did not like going in the car, had to have the vet come to the house when I needed him except the last time when Baby had to go to sleep, I miss him so much can never replace him
Summer, that was quite an adventure but if your big adventure is the one that our mommy is planning to go see you at, nothing can prepare you for what will happen when she sees you! She’ll be worse than any car, dog or plane!
So who leads when you are out walking? The few walks I have had with Frankie established Frankie as the leader and any attempt to alter the trajectory met with stiff resistance.
I will trot along with my human sometimes… but not always! Sometimes I just want to sit and sniff things and look at birds.
Wow, our peeps never take us to places…we only’travel’,if we have to go to that shabby place…sigh.. You have wonderful catventures!
So many fabulous photos of you!
Summer you are having very nice adventures!
It looks like you did a great job!! Where are you going next month, Summer?
Mom says that Angel Bobo used to go out on his leash ALL of the time. Me? I want no part of it. Love, Cody
Summer that is so terrific that you are doing so well That was a good kitty not to bolt at the cars. Have a great day.
Summer, I think you and I would have a lot of fun on adventures together! Will you be going to BlogPaws? I would love to meet you! –Sophie

You must stop traffic when you’re out and about, Summer!
looks like you had a great walk. I like the way your human thinks.
unfortunately we got some snow today so I don’t think the boyz would be too interested in taking a walk.
Where did you get that harness and leash? It looks like something my cat MIGHT not be able to wiggle out of.
They are from Sturdiproducts.com.
You are both very clever and brave, Summer!
Purrs,
