There was a cat show this past weekend. Because of the Better With Pets Summit, my human was too busy to enter me, but she did stop by to see how my half-sister (and Sparkle’s niece) Vana is doing. She is growing up fast!
Vana is really enjoying being a show kitty! She purrs and makes happy feet while she’s being groomed, and often when the judges are looking at her. She takes after her mother, and is big for her age. My mother, Bluesette, is the exact opposite — she’s smaller than me! By the way, my mom is about to retire from having kittens. She just had her last litter, and soon she will be going home to someone who has been waiting for her for two years.
The show was on both Saturday and Sunday, and on Saturday, my half-brother Sizzle was there. He is growing up too! He was only showing for one day because his human was judging a dog show on Sunday.
Sizzle is a very funny little guy. Along with being really cute!
Vana is having lots of fun in the judging rings. I don’t know what got into her here, but she just had to climb way up that pole! Maybe she thinks she’s an adventure cat.
Because Vana is mature for her age, she is very competitive with the boy kittens. Sometimes she beats them, even though the breed standard favors males. She’s gotten Best Somali Kitten over Sizzle a few times!
I also wanted to introduce you to some friends of mine! They are Turkish Vans, and they are both kittens — and of course my human couldn’t get a decent shot of them together. Sansa, the girl, is number 19, and Aadi, the boy, is number 20. Yes, that big boy is still a kitten! This was actually his last show in the kitten class, since he turns eight months before his next show. These two are special because the small cattery they are part of is brand new and the only Turkish Van breeder in the west. They are a well-known breed, but they are pretty rare.
Sansa is a lot younger than Aadi — not even five months old — but don’t be fooled just because she is still small. She is very well built already and some of the judges had trouble deciding whether to make her or Aadi Best Turkish Van kitten! And she did make one final during the weekend.
Because he is more mature, Aadi did get more finals. He got three. There is also a slightly older Van girl, Arya, and she got three finals in the adult cat class.
And how did Vana and Sizzle do? Sizzle got one final on the day he showed, and over the two days, Vana finaled four times! She is doing very well, and I’m proud of her!
I’m learning so much Summer. I’ve read breed books and know a bit but you are teaching me so much. I’m enjoying learning
Kudos and concats to all those happy cats and kittens:)
Your family members are all lovely. It you are still my fave Somali.
Concatulations, Vana! Stardom runs in the family for sure.
thanks for sharing the lovely photos & stories about the other kitties. I had never heard of the Turkish van breed but they are lovely.
Glad your Mum is retiring and can go home to the person who has been waiting, impatiently I’m sure, for her.
Vana is a pretty girl…….she obviously enjoys showing off!! The Turkish Vans are so beautiful – love their coloring!!
Hugs, Sammy
Success runs in your family, Summer! Hooray for Vana and Sizzle!
So you come from a long line of show cats. We’re just plain everyday kitties but Jan loves us anyway. You’re all so good-looking!
You have a very talented family tree.
You have a very accomplished family.
We don’t think we’ve ever heard of Turkish Vans before, so this has been educational for us. All the kidlets are pretty or handsome but none can hold a candle to you, Summer!
Congrats to them!
You have such an impressive family! (And I adore that judge’s Halloween shirt!)
Vana has quite the paws on her!!!
Purrs,
The Chans
Vana is beautiful! I can see the family resemblance. 🙂 She is taking to the cat show world very well. She doesn’t look nervous at all! I love that she gives happy paws.
Vana sure is a beauty too. Her happy feet are so cute. What a great family line. They are growing up so fast. Purrs
Oh how adorable. We can now tell it’s not you but Vana because her ears are a little bigger than yours. The vans are way too cute.
It is nice to see Vana doing so well, and Sizzle too. The Vans are good looking also.
Vana has a very distinctive face but Sizzle is my guy!
Vana is so pretty ! It was nice of your human to pop up at the cat show and say hi to your family and friends ! Purrs
So many Pretty Cats!
Vana is very pretty! She looks more like a Wild Tiger or Lioness!!
I want to gently scratch Vana on the chin, behind the ears, on the back of her neck, and I want to put her on my lap and listen to her purr!! She must have a LOUD purr!!
Summer, have you ever seen a cat climb ALL the way up one of these poles?
Yes, a couple of them have!
What a beautiful cat! Love the coloring, thanks for the share.
Your family is full of stars!!!
Vana is such a cutie! And I love Sizzle. That scratching post climbing skill is pawsome!
Oh yea, your family sure has the looks sweet Summer!
they should have named one of the turkish vans ‘vana.’ then she could have been vana white.
Vanna and Sizzle are both adorable and so are the Turkish Vans.
I love seeing the Vans too. ALL the kittens you featured did so well and it was fun watching them working.
Great pictures!!!
sounds like a great show for everyone….those Vans are lovely
Your whole family are just great show cats. They all look good.
Vana is very pretty, Summer. We hope she continues to do well in her competitions.
Summer what fun photos. You and your family are very gorgeous show cats.
Hugs madi your bfff
Is Vana giving a high five in that last picture or maybe waving?
Vana is stunning, just like you, Summer. You’re not in any of the shots to compare, but is she almost as big as you are?
She is! She probably weighs only a pound less me right now – she will probably be about 7-1/2 pounds as an adult.
All such adorable kitties!
Purrs xx
