Leave it to my human to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The gardener came by the other day and my human, thinking he had seen my nip plant growing for the past several weeks, would just let it be like always. But look:
It is gone! There is nothing, not even a sprout coming back up. My dreams of fresh nip are over!
I give up.

YOU ARE KIDDING!! That can’t be!! I would track down the culprit and do some damage!! Nip thieving should be a crime punishable by life in prison! Man oh man….we can send you some of our nip if you want…..to tide you over until you get a new nip plant. You will get a new nip plant won’t you? You must!! Every cat with a garden must have a nip plant. Not having one is like not having oxygen in the air!! Let us know about the nip care package and we’ll zip one off to you as soon as you say the word. K? Purrs and hang in there o’ nip-less one!! Lautrec, Tiny and EllDawgOh
I am so sorry, Sparkle.
What a terrible loss! But maybe your human will try again if she reads these comments. Please, Sparkle’s Human, grow some more cat nip for her!
My human has decided to have potted plants on this enclosed balcony in our new home. Maybe I can convince her to grow cat nip or at least cat grass there.
Good luck, Sparkle.
Purrs,
Sara Cat
THE gardener must have thought it was a weed. My catnip grew a lot this summer as it was wetter and cooler than usual. I hope your mummy plants a new one and puts a notice beside it saying CATNIP DO NOT TOUCH.
Oh dear – what happened to it?
Poor Sparkle! It’s difficult to survive such tragedy and go on with life, but I’m sure you’ll dig deep (no pun intended) and find the will to live without catnip. Believe me, it can be done.
Sheesh your mummy is as useless as de feemale when it comes to gardening. Solution: credit card and online pet store shopping! We feel for you, Sparkle!
*Gasp!* The injustice! The horror!! How COULD the gardener do such an awful thing?! You poor kitty.
Even though Noel is of the Canine breed (Don’t think too lowly of her); She and I wanted to say how sorry we are to hear about your plant. We both think the gardner should make it up to you with a basket of cat toys, and a new plant.
::thud::
Holy Cod! Will you never get some nip over there?
How terrible, Sparkle! We are really at a loss for words. Your expressions say it all. We sure hope you’ll get a new plant or some type of restitution.
Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, and Hollie
Sparkle
I say the gardener owes you some nip!

What a terrible, terrible, terrible tragedy! I’m so sorry, Sparkle.
Just because catnip might be classified as a “weed” that does not give the garderner the right to get rid of it without any say so. Why would plain dirt be preferable to the greenary of the nip.
Oh Sparkle, that is just plain sad!
OMC!!!!
What an evil look you have towards the gardener for pulling up the nip plant. Hope you get some fresh new plants and FAST.
The gardener MURDERED your nip plant!! Someone call 911! We will hunt him/her down and make them pay—or at least buy you a new plant. If they buy it, maybe they won’t pull it out. Or maybe your human should’ve made one of those little signs announcing it was a nip plant. Either way, gardener shouldn’t get paid this week.
What a silly gardener…
What kind of gardener RIPS UP PLANTS?? You know what, Sparkle? I think that gardener has a nip-lovin’ kitteh at home, MOL.
There must be a nip thief coming to your garden. This is very tragic. We had the same thing happen. It was coming along great, then -gone.
We have some in a pot now. Still vulnerable, even on the deck, however, still growing….for now.
Ever thought of growing it in a pot in the house? Just sayin’
My human kills every plant that she has ever tried growing in the house. That’s why the catnip plant got put outside – it was dying.
That’s tragic! Maybe the garderner was taking it out to make room for a bigger plant he’s bringing next time. Otherwise, he needs to be fired!
This is tragic. Get your human to a garden store pronto!
What? OMC, how could this happen? Your human had better get you a new plant, pronto. Maybe put some stakes or some sort of barrier around it, so the clueless gardener doesn’t destroy another plant!
I think your neighborhood must have one very happy cat….
Looks like you haf a nip napper! MOL! It’s totally gone! Poor Sparkle, we always get dried nip, too. It’s not too bad, really. Purrs.
Oh no I am so sorry to hear that, you must have catnip burglar in the neighborhood.
Incompetent gardener!!!
Ask Mom to go to Petsmart and get you a new plant and keep it inside. And give you a leaf every day!!
That’s just wrong!
Nip thief!!! We think it must be time for a BIG sign or a new gardener!
WHAT?! Thats horrible? Did your mom say anything to the gardener?
Not yet. She will next time he comes around.
What the???? What is it with hired help? Maybe there should be something in the contract that says if 1 nip plant is harmed it must be replaced by 3 nip plants.
oops….we hit post too fast…..
Our Christmas in July post is up today! We really love effurything. This morning Mom found our new toys all over the living room and we had opened the treat jar and nommed some!!
The Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
Oh no!!! We hope your Mom gets you a new one and keeps it safe! Our nip plant is looking mighty sad, but at least we will have it!
The Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
Oh no! Sparkle, I’m so sorry! Maybe your human can grow it inside for you?
Oh no Sparkle – next time you see the gardener we think you should give him a whap with claws!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Oh no Sparkle, not the catnip plant. The gardener seems a little or we should say a lot stoooopid. What is wrong with him. He doesn’t know what cat nip is? Give me a break. Take care and have a fun day if you can.
Oh no! Your gardener’s first priority should be helping your Nip to GROW!
ARGH!!! How could that stoopid gardener take your nip away??!?
GASP! Awful!
The same thing happened here one year. I had grown some catnip along the edges of the lawn, and my lawn service thought it was a weed and killed it with the weedwacker. My girls were not amused. Faithful cat servant that I am, I immediately went to the nursery and got more – that batch lived in a pot on the deck, away from the evil weedwacker.
Unfortunately, my human cannot grow things in pots – kills them every time. Including catnip.
that is horrible…….what is wrong with the gardener?????? He needs some help…
Don’t worry, Sparkle, catnip grows really fast. And like mikfoss said, it’s a very hardy plant. Maybe your human should buy some catnip plants that have already been started so you can get your fresh ‘nip fix faster.
Can’t your human grow it indoors somewhere?
This is the second time this has happened, isn’t it? You either need to get a new gardner who knows what catnip plants look like or have your mom put up a big sign next to it to leave it alone. Sad for you.
This is HORRIBLE!!!! Tell your Mommy to buy a plant NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sparkle, that’s a horrible thing, but we have learned on our balcony that these are very hardy plants and there’s a good chance it still might make it! Ours is doing pretty well in the Phoenix heat, even in the summer (though we water them a lot too)!
OH NO !!!!! I couldn’t believe the gardener got no idea about the nip ! He/She never cats for sure ; (
Sorry about your lost, I purrs to comfort you Sparkle
xoxo
