On a random search through my photo library, I landed on September 2015. I thought that month would make a good Throwback Thursday. I was training to be a therapy cat, but I didn’t know it at the time. So many things I did were preparing me. Like trips to the pet store.
Car rides too… my human and I went lots of places, and still do.
Therapy pets need to have baths to make visits, so I got baths at least twice a month, whether I had a cat show to go to or not.
Let’s not talk about the butt bath I also had that month…
That month I did have a couple of cat shows. I really competed in a lot of them! It was all therapy cat practice for me, going lots of places and being handled by lots of judges. I was exposed to all sorts of people and situations.
Most exhibitors don’t like people touching their cats, but my human was the opposite — she let lots of people touch me. If I was tired, I’d just lie back and get belly rubs. My human wanted me to meet lots of people.
The side benefit of all those shows was that I got awards! I got the title of Supreme Alter in TICA. This was the month I had my Supreme party.
Yes, I got to taste the icing! It was yummy.
I was also Fourth Best Somali in Premiership (the altered cats) in CFA for the 2014–2015 season, and got this huge ribbon! But you know what? All the show stuff was fun, and I still love being a Pet Me Cat at shows — but nothing beats making therapy cat visits!
