Because Halloween is coming up, I get to dress up for my therapy cat visits for the rest of the month! Today, I wore my therapy nurse kitty uniform, even though I was visiting all grown ups. I figured grown up humans would enjoy a kitty in a nurse’s outfit at least as much as children would. And I was right!
My human and I found the other team, our pointer friend Jake and his human, in the lobby. They were already talking with some visitors there. Everybody about died when they saw me in my nurse outfit! The phones came out and they started taking photos right away. The whole day was like that.
Jake and I took different wings of the same floors. The first wing for me had people who were having surgery, and I didn’t get to sit on the bed with any of them. So what my human did was sit me on a chair and pull it next to the patient’s bed. That worked out pretty well. The first patient even wanted a photo of me and him, and he leaned over the chair so my human could get it.
The next floor, I did get to sit on the bed. One guy I saw there really loved me, and he was a little bummed that his wife and daughter were going to miss me because they were visiting later. He was a big animal lover and grew up with them. His wife hadn’t, so she was scared of dogs and cats. Undaunted, he brought home a kitten he found one day, and the kitty changed his wife’s mind. Now the cat sleeps under the covers with her. My human made sure to take a photo of me with this patient so he could at least show it to his family.
The patients loved me, and so did their visitors, but I was the biggest hit with the staff, especially the nurses! They all wanted to take photos of me, and one even took a selfie with me. I drew a crowd on one floor, with hospital staff surrounding me and taking photos. They were amazed I sat still for their pictures… little do they know I am used to it!
