One of the things I had to do last week was get a wellness check up from the vet. Because I’m a therapy cat, my annual check up includes having the veterinarian fill out a form. The form says that I’m healthy, easy to handle, and up to date on my vaccines. This trip, I needed a rabies vaccine. I got the Purevax three year this time, so I won’t need that again for a while!
I will say, I don’t like going to the vet that much! Well, if it just involved me being on my leash and visiting and having the staff make a big deal out of me, that would be okay. But they do really, super invasive things to me… like take my temperature! More than just about anything else, I hate having my temperature taken. Unfortunately the clinic does not do it by ear. They do it the old fashioned way, and I especially loathe it.
A weird marionette kitty hovered near the ceiling in the exam room, and I felt like it was mocking me.
While we waited for the vet to get the vaccine, I poked around and found treats! Even being violated by that thermometer doesn’t stop me from enjoying a treat or two!
It’s a good thing my human has quick hands!
I kind of squirmed about the vaccine too, until my human helped hold me still. Then I stopped struggling. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. That is usually the case when my human holds me still for something unpleasant. Well, the thermometer thing excepted.
Anyhow, other than being squirmy for shots and having my temperature taken, I was a very good kitty. The vet looked in my ears and mouth and felt me all over and said I was in great shape. So I’m done with my therapy cat wellness check up until next year!
My kitties hate it when the vet looks up their birth certificate! 😉
Poor kitty! That thermometer is no fun for sure.
We can’t believe we’ve missed so many of your posts! We have to talk to our mom about that! We’re glad you had a great checkup, Summer! You do much better at the vet than Lexy, that’s for sure.
Good thing that treat jar didn’t go crashing to the floor. A high five at the end was purrfect. That big wooden cat is sort of creepy. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
Phew! Glad that is all done for now!
What a menacing cat that wooden one is…sheesh! MOL!
I’m glad that your vet visit went so well, Summer! It is wonderful that you are willing to make that sacrifice so that you can help people who could use a little kitty love. Not every kitty would be willing to do that. I think that you deserve those treats for all that they put you through in there! 🙂
We never doubted you were up to date in any way Summer!
You do pretty well with the vet. My dog likes to start screaming in fake pain and fear immediately upon seeing the vet.
Sorry you got violated, Summer. I notice you didn’t wear a pretty dress. I bet then they wouldn’t have been able to do it.
you are so cute, Summer! yay for the good check up! boo/hiss for the thermometer 😀 we hate that part too. You need a skull and cross bone harness 🙂
pip, smidgen, minnie, hollie, sharpie, ditto, TL
I agree about the unpleasantness of the “alien butt probe” but I’m not too squirmy about it. I do with the thermometers worked faster! I’m glad you’re healthy and a-ok to do more therapy visits.
And good catch by your mom….she didn’t even have to put the camera down!
Just dropped by to say hi, so, Hi……………………
Having a check up can suck doesn’t matter if you are a human or a kitty
Yay Summer! Now you sre ready to go love on some folks now. Her 1/2 nephew, Navy, wasn’t overly impressed going for his check up and shot either. He forgot about the whole thing in a couple hours
It’s such a happy day when the wellness check is done for the year! Oh yes, that thermometer is a total perv…
We do not like Vet visits either!
The Vet we have had for the past 7 years uses a thermometer too :/
Don’t tell Julie, but she goes for her semi annual visit on Thursday 😉
MOL!
Purrs Georgia,Julie and JJ
Oh my mouses! TELL me about it. That temperature takin’ business is for the dogs, for sure. I mean… I MEAN… I MEAN IT’S SO DARN EMBARRASSING. Not to mention rude. MOUSES!
And now you can get on the road again. PS: that thing WAS mocking you, totally.
We’re glad to hear you got a good report, but what a bummer about the thermometer. Our vet uses the in-ear kind. The head peep has read that they aren’t quite as accurate, but we are totally okay with that. Maybe next year your vet will, too!
We’re sorry the vet did you the thermometer thing, but we’re glad everything went well and that you had a good checkup ! Purrs
I’m certain that the vets DO enjoy when you come by, because they get to take care of a Very Pretty Cat!!
Glad that’s all over, Summer! We’re happy you got a good check up too!
Yay Summer!! So happy that all went well! You made us laugh about that (creepy looking) kitty mocking you! MOL!
So happy you passed your wellness exam!! Annie especially dislikes having her temperature taken the old fashioned way too. She cries and it breaks my heart.
^^ Pretty Cat!! Very Pretty Cat!!
I LOVE your book “The Tiniest Tiger!”
My favorite pictures of Gracie, are when she is talking to Mrs. Lion, approaching Mrs. Bobcat, talking to Mrs. Ocelot, when she meets Hazel, and of course, when Gracie and Hazel are cuddled up together at the very end.
Not only have I purchased TWO copies of “The Tiniest Tiger” for myself, but as gifts for others, too!
So, Gracie is the prettiest cat in Ohio! Summer is the prettiest in California, Bitsy is the prettiest in Washington and Oregon! And of course Smoothie is the prettiest in Europe!
You are so good sweet Summer and now you are all set to return to work!
good job Summer….even though those vets can be kind of touchy
Oh the last photo is so sweet!
Summer, did you know that hoomins dislike going to the vet’s office too? Not because they take OUR temperature, but because we know our kitties are uncomfortable and stressed, even when being worshipped (naturally!) by the staff.
Happy to hear you got a good report, Summer! Minchie had his check up last week and was violated like that too and was NOT happy at all! Happy he got a good report too!
Summer you hidden messages are funny. About to be violated…that cracked mom up.
What in the world is that cat doing hanging form the ceiling? It would be so tempting to jump up there.
Hugs madi your bfff
I wonder why someone doesn’t invent an ear thermometer for kitties. Glad everything went well. We get the 3 yr. purevax too.
Our sweet furbro Sir Morton is the kindest of all, he was mentored by Grandpaw Grey (OTRB now). Even he hates the butt interaction with the Doc. It’s so invasive! We commend you for your purrfect lady like behavior. Concats on your annual visit and being healthy. Treats make everything better! Purrs
We’re glad you had a good checkup, Summer…and aren’t you glad that’s over now??
Sure glad all is OK, Summer. That temp taking is not fun at all.
I love what TyBee said cuz I think the same thing! Concatuylations on that visit Summer. You look healthy and I am not in the least surprised that you are. Did you have any reaction to the vaccine?
No real reaction. I may have slept a little more that afternoon, but I was all ready for the cat show the next day!
I don’t like the Dr touching me. If only the vet would just pet me! And tell me how pretty I am, and that I am a good girl. I am very glad to get back in my carrier and go home.
Did your vet tell you that you are pretty?
Hu-hu. The human writing here: my cats are right now both asleep and getting their teeth done while I’m sitting in the waiting room. I think I was more hysterical than them!
I am definitely NOT one for the vest… and they don’t have treats either which is a real turn off. Glad you got a clean bill of health. We don’t have rabies shots in UK as we are thankfully clear of that disease, but it doesn’t sound any better than any of the shots I do have to have…. Heres to a great healthy year ahead for you.
Toodle pip and purrs

Glad that’s over for you! Good work finding the treats. We think you can be wild on a harness.
It sounds good. We researched what vet’s do for Take Your Cat to the Vet Day and they do just what you said, a proper examination top to toe!
