Today’s therapy cat visit was at the big hospital. As usual, my first stop was in Pediatrics. Only one patient was up to seeing me today, and it was a teen girl with her parents. The girl had all sorts of tubes going up her arm and nose, but she sat up and spent a lot of time with me. Her mom called her sister on her phone so she could see the visit. I could hear her sister squealing happily to see me.
The funny thing about this patient was that, since her dad is allergic, she has never spent quality time with a cat! She said she wasn’t even sure how to pet me (she did it perfectly). And she wanted to know about the noise I was making. “She’s purring,” my human told her.
The rest of the visits were good too. I stopped by the Resident Workroom to visit with one young doctor before stopping by the Cancer Center waiting room. Then I went up to Labor and Delivery. A couple of women wanted to see me. One of them was so happy I was there because she had a kitty at home that she missed. The nurses were also happy to see me, as they always are in this section of the hospital. I spend extra time with them always.
I had really nice visits.

You just can’t imagine how much it means to those you visit to have a sweet kitty spend a little time with them.

I bet you really love those visits. It must be very satisfying.
I bet that one girl will beg for a cat of her own, now…and maybe when she grows up she might even be like us…a Crazy Cat Lady! LOL!
Thanks for all you do, Summer and thanks to your uman for letting you do the work you love so much.
Oh Summer I almost cried when in that poor girl didn’t know what a purr was. Everyone should know the love that comes from the purr of a loving kitty
You always spread so much joy. XO
You make everyone feel better, Summer!
When Sydney comes up to me at 3am, wanting to be fed, purring loudly, how can I resist feeding her? I can’t!
Bringing joy everywhere you go, Summer!
Purrs,
Tama and Benny
You are a special vistor and we know you made their day! When our Dad was in the hospital he had a Therapy Dog visit, our State only allows therapy dogs.
Yep, a cat would’ve made TW’s stay at that horrid place—her words—much better. Glad you made people’s day.
Sounds like another great visit and you made another group
of people happy. Very satisfying.
If only there could be videos….
You have a special sort of healing with your visits, Summer.
We are so glad for the folks who are able to enjoy your therapy.
What a wonderful job you are doing! I’m sure everyone felt so much better after your visit.
How sweet! She was so lucky to get to experience this!
It is a shame that the girl’s father is allergic because it sounds like she would love a cat. Glad you had a good visit.
