Wow, 2009 was a long time ago! My parents weren’t even born yet! But Sparkle was around, so let’s see what she was doing. As you can see, she was a big fan of boxes.
Then, as now, boxes didn’t stay very long around here, and they went into recycling pretty quickly.
Back in 2009, Sparkle was only posting about her goings-on once a month, plus writing an advice column and a book review. You may want to check out her original post because she has lots of good tips on cheap cat toys! In spite of being a “fancy” cat, she actually knew how to have fun on a budget.
Here she is, playing with the cheapest toy of allnbsp;— a Q-Tip! Don’t worry, this is a clean one, not one dug out of the trash.
This cat in a bag cat toy was a cast off from a friend. Can you tell how not-impressed Sparkle was? When my human turned it on, it actually scared Binga!
When she wasn’t playing, or criticizing bad cat toys, Sparkle spent a lot of time in the office. I can’t believe how neat and uncluttered it looks! My human has some work to do.
The window ledges in the dining room are very narrow, but Sparkle was almost small enough to make them work for her. She’s the only cat who could get fresh air and a nice view of our front yard at the same time.
Flashbacks are such a good way to have memories refreshed. We don’t have windowsills either, so thee are benches and other platforms for window whiffies and bird watching.
We really wish we were reading blogs back then. But that was before our Mom adopted us, and would you believe she didn’t even know cats had Facebook pages let alone blogs? Boy, has she learned a lot!
Pretty Cats will always be Pretty Cats!!
You and Sparkle show how striking the Ruddy fur on a Somali is! So shiny and beautiful!
I love these flashbacks with all three girls…or just any one of them. I remember Sparkle very very well. xx

How nice to see Sparkle today! We miss her a lot. Tracey’s favorite coffee mug is the one with Sparkle on it, and the caption “Caffeine is for sissies!”
We were surprised that the cat in the bag toy scared Binga. We always think of her as fearless!
How fun seeing Sparkle and Binga today!
What a surprise to see Sparkle! Don’t tell Binga but I think she looks totally better today. My aunt gave me one of those cat in the bags. It wore out it’s welcome very quickly. Aunt Pauline gave me one of those Cat Dancers too. When TW digs it out of the mess, I love it.
She was such a beautiful girl. â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
Aww, it’s wonderful to see Sparkle again. She was a great cat–but don’t worry, Summer, you’re an awesome cat, too!
I love these flashbacks, I didn’t even know cat blogs existed back in 2009.
Yes what fun memories of Sparkle. It looks like Binga likes to pawticipate even then.

Oh Sparkle, so good to see you. We so enjoyed your blog and miss you but we really like that Summer girl too. Binga sure knows how to get into the pictures.
That’s a wonderful flashback. My first kitty, Felix, loved to play with Q-tips.
Summer if you had not told me I would have thought that was you.

Great flashback <3
I always loved Sparkle’s sass!
Love the memories.
What a wonderful flash back to the past. And something that actually scared Binga? Wow! One of a kind, MOL. We love seeing Sparkle. She left a little sparkle in each of us. Beautiful pics. Purrs
The window ledge thing reminds me of my old cats. My couch was in front of the window and the cats used to lie on the back and look out the window. The dog saw that and thought it was a fine idea. Soon she also would get up there and lie down and look out the window. They would all be up there competing for space.
Thanks fur the flashback! Have a great weekend!
Sparkle was a wonderful cat, this was actually my first cat blog I subscribed to. Thank you for the flashback in the fun reminder getting to see Sparkle. I do know one thing absolutely for sure is that she would be so incredibly proud of you for job you’ve done taking over her blog. She’d be very proud to be the big sister of such an incredible therapy cat ( and your ability to maintain your patience and sense of humor with Binga). Flashbacks are both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Let your human know that were also thinking of her tonight and although we all lose furry family it never gets any easier. You may be a therapy cat at hospitals and other visits, but I hope you know that you are biggest therapy experience was and always will be the therapy you provide for your human. Now go and try and score some treats and remind your human to treat herself in between all of the work that she does which despite this being your blog under Sparkles name ear human puts a lot of hard work into assisting you and with everything else she does for animals and humans in general. I just want to make sure did she realize this everything we see that she does making this world a better place which is very much needed. Once again I rambled but it was good to get a look back at Sparkle.
It’s always great to see Sparkle again! And Binga flashbacks are excellent too!
Purrs,
