Did you know that Saturday, January 14th was National Dress Up Your Pet Day? Somehow, it totally slipped my mind and I forgot to mention it here. The photo above shows how I celebrated the day. Notice the distinct lack of dress up? Guess I wasn’t feeling particularly festive that day!
Sometimes I think humans come up with special holidays just to annoy us cats. Seriously, do any of you kitties look forward to February’s Pet Dental Health Month or Take Your Cat to the Vet Week, which happens sometime during August that I have conveniently forgotten? And what about the totally misnamed “Happy Cat Month?” You humans want to create holidays we cats will like? How about “Feed Your Cat Treats for Breakfast Day” or “National Cat Toy Month?” Now, these have a nice ring to them!
At least today’s holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, does not involve potentially humiliating or cringe-worthy feline activities. Some of you humans get the day off, which means you get to spend more time at your real job, catering to your cats’ every whim. Some of you will also use the day to honor Dr. King and the achievements of the civil rights movement. That’s cool. Just make sure dinner is served on time.
There is one holiday that I found rather intriguing. It comes up next Sunday and I’ll discuss it then.
Dear Sparkle,
I can understand your feelings. All five cats here at home agrees with you.
But I really think Daisy is special. They must have made that holiday just for her.
By the way, I have been forced to move to a new address. For some reason it was decided that my blog domain name had expired January 20th, and I packed my bags in a great hurry I moved to another blogspot address. (You will see that I redid the layout, since I had to move into a new place.)
So please, whenever you have the time, stop by and follow me on my new address, because I have lost all my 132 Google Friend Connent followers by moving. (As well as my 40-some Networked Blogs followers.)
My old address for ‘Anna’s Adornments’ was: http://annasadornments.blogspot.com/
My NEW address for Anna’s Adornments is now: http://annas-adornments.blogspot.com/
Sara Cat’s blog does not seem to be affected by this; but you never know. She will get in touch with you if she has the same problem.
Best wishes & hugs,
Anna
Sara sends purrs!
Jan forgets everything but she had an excuse this time. None of us knew there was a dress up day. Not that Jan could have made us dress up. Just saying.
Only a crazy human can invent a “National Dress Up Your Pet Day” ! Cats are already dressed in fur coats, I think especially female humans are only jalous and want to put their ugly clothes on a beautiful cat fur ! They have no fur and if they have they need an “International Shaving Day” !
We never dress up. Our mama tried to put something on us. But we never ever let her.
Dress Up Your Pet Day sounds interesting. I wish I would have known. I would have dressed up my dog. A Great Dane all dressed up wouldn’t have looked strange would it?
This is one time we’re glad our Mom is a slacker and missed an event!

Excellent ideas, Sparkle. Perhaps you should establish Feed Your Cats Treats for Breakfast Day?
Sparkle, darling, we has a question. Once in awhile, your newest post is not on the static list of posts, but rather comes whizzing past on the very top and we miss it while we are looking at the top static post and then we have to go clickety on the arrows and we don’t really know which direction to go and we pick wrong and we has to clickety a whole bunch of times or we has to sit and wait for it to come flashing past again.
Is there a secret we don’t know?
Say AMEN! Say Hallelujah! Remarkable post! I’m waiting for Kitty Treat Day to celebrate.
We are SO glad our mom didn’t know about that dress the kitty day. Dressing up steals our bones and our good humor. Any dress up day is not a happy day.
Sparkle, we think you need to have a talk with the people who make up holidays because your ideas are way better!
While Daisy totally rocks the snappy outfits, I personally don’t like seeing animals dressed up in human clothes all the time. Those little yappy dogs in dresses?? BLECH! It’s sorta like torture I think.
I’m all for “Bite your owner if they put you in human clothes Day”
Do you think you could forget it again next year just in case our mum starts getting silly ideas.
How in the WORLD did I miss that holiday?!?!?
You will just have to remember it for next year, Daisy!
Oh dear we are glad our Mom did not know about this holiday too.
Not that she has ever tried to put a dress on me….

I’m with you, Sparkle. No dress up holiday needed. Not now. Not ever. Salmon Sunday, Chick-Hen Day….NOW we’re talkin.

At least it was dress up your pet, so dogs had to suffer too 😉 Sparkle, did you know next month there is a National Dog Biscuit Day, and in September there is even a National Dog Week? There is even a Squrrel Appreciation Day! What about us kittehs?!?
Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, Hollie
Maybe we can get that dress up thing removed before next year!
I am so glad that you didn’t mention it. I mean the woman may have gotten weird ideas. I do not wear clothing.
Dress up a cat!?! Now me knows Daisy and Domino and some other cats wears dresses, but a whole day for our humans to try to put clothes on us…Me would shred my Mommy if she tried.
Kisses
Nellie
Do you know what Mommy did yesterday? She bought a pet tuxedo! Felix can’t wait for it to arrive. He is a little bit tetched. We are all for a National Nip Day!
I did not know about Dress Up Your Pet Day. I’m sure there were many kitties got a nice outfit fot the day. I love your ideas for new holidays!
I didn’t know about Dress Up Your Pet Day on Jan. 14. I’m a lucky kittie ’cause my human doesn’t dress me up. I do like the holidays you suggested!!
Our slave says we are purrfect and that can’t be improved will silly “adornments”. We think we’ll keep her.
Jasmine, Joey, Eddie and Rosie
Nope, we didn’t know that January 14th was dress up your pet day and our human wouldn’t have done that to us even if she had known, thank cod. She prefers cats to be cats, not human “babies” or dolls.
Why is there no dress up your human day? It could be payback, to force them to dress up in some stupid costume. 😛
Well, Sparkle…we don’t think National Dress Up Your Pet Day should be a holiday. Must be something some silly human came up with.
My boys escaped getting dressed up too because I was unfamiliar with this special day. At Christmastime, I had a nice Santa cape set aside for the cats to wear for some photo ops, then it disappeared! Only after Christmas when I was putting the decorations away did I fine it stuffed down behind the boxes…who knew they were so sneaky – LOL!!!
Oh thanks so much Sparkle for forgetting that dress up day. That is pure torture for us. Some of us endure it but not many. Sure glad our Mom didn’t know about that one. We think treats for Breakfast is a good one to start. Hope all of you have a great week.
We like all holidays – in fact for us life is one big holiday!! Hooray!!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Every day is a holiday for those who see life that way!!!
Purrs,
The Chans
We compurr with you completely!!!
Don’t feel bad, Sparkle. It is in our bookmarks. Today we have yet another meeting about bookmarks and how to do more than just marking them!
Our Fur is the best dress up, Miss Sparkle !
But if I have to wear something else, I think I go spider web ! Mancat style and Classic…tee..heh..heh
Dress Up Your Pet Day???? Nefur heard of it! We only approve of holidays that have large roasts as part of the celebration. Yes, we think with our tummies!
