My human got her boyfriend this really nice new desk chair for Christmas. (The old one was all beat up, and he said the arms got in the way.) Yes, there was some assembly required, but that did not bother her. He was out of town doing shows and how hard could it be to put it together while he was gone? Besides, I was there to supervise.
Well, it turned out to be harder than she expected! Once she had all the parts out, she began to think that maybe she was in over her head. It’s a good thing I was there to keep her calm.
It’s not like it was a bunch of parts. Some of them were just heavy and hard to put together.
Even getting the casters on the chair bottom turned out to be hard. My human wound up with a sore hand after shoving them into place.
My human was only able to put in three of the four bolts on the back, but it seemed to be okay. It took like an hour to figure out the fourth bolt wasn’t going to fit. Fortunately, the seat didn’t need a lot of assembly — if she’d had to put the levers on, it might have made my human cry.
Here’s the completed chair! The cool thing about it is that the arms move out of the way when you don’t want them. After it was assembled, it occurred to my human that she could have hired somebody to put it together for her. Oh well. At least she had a good supervisor.
And once we were done, I had a fun box to play with! For some reason, my human preferred having eggnog (the alcoholic kind) instead of playing in the box.
Oh, her boyfriend liked the chair. But he had to pull it apart and use his drill to make that fourth bolt fit.
