I had a fun, but quiet day at the big hospital. The moment we arrived at the lobby, the receptionists recognized me by name and petted me! I enjoyed that.
Next we popped over to the Cancer Center. Our usual nurse wasn’t there, and neither of the patients getting infusions wanted to see me. Although I wonder about one of them — she said she didn’t like cats, then immediately started cooing over me. But my human never tries to push me on anyone, so we went up to Pediatrics. Pediatrics had lots of students on the floor that day, and they really enjoyed seeing me. A couple of them had questions about the hospital’s therapy pet program and how it worked. So my human told them.
We had a couple of nice young kids to visit. The first boy was a little more interested in his tablet than he was in me! Although he had a kitty at home and liked cats, so he did pause to pet me a lot. The second patient was a young girl about the same age. She had a tablet too, but she also wanted to spend time with me. I curled up with her on the bed, and was very content being there while my human chatted with the mother.
My human offered to take an Instamatic photo of me with the daughter, and the girl’s mother, like a lot of people, asked if there was a charge for it. Usually my human just says no, that the photos were a courtesy made possible by a large donor that gave our organization the cameras and film. But this time, she elaborated. She explained that all the pet therapy teams are volunteers, and we are made possible by donations to our group from organizations and the facilities that ask us to be part of their programs. I thought some of you may wonder about this too, so I’ve included that information here.
In any case, my human wound up taking a really cute photo of me with the little girl. After that, we went over to Labor and Delivery, and even though there weren’t any patients available at the time, I had a fun visit with all the nurses.
It was a good day.

Sounds like a really good day. I can’t imagine not wanting to spend time with you though.
You are a celebrity everywhere you go. 🙂
Summer you spread joy anywhere you go. You are a hero in the kitty world and your human is a hero in the human world. Did that make sense! At any rate, you’re both heros

Another great visit, Summer.
That does sound like a good visit. You are becoming quite a celebrity
to be recognized the minute you arrive. That little girl who has your
photo with her will probably keep that forever in a scrapbook.
And you wore your cute Valentine tie, Summer…how cute!
Another fun visit for you and all the people you made happy.
So happy you had a good visit Summer.
I think so many people could benefit from pet therapy visits.
Nice too that you visited with the nurses 🙂

That was a nice visit, Summer.
Even the staff love the work you do and they feel happy when they see you. Its like that when the pups come to where I work, too…the staff, including me, love to pet and take pictures of them…I’ve shown a few in my blog posts over time.
