My human and I went down to Pier 92 in New York City to set up the Somali cat booth at Meet the Breeds. We went through this tunnel and when we emerged, it was the biggest city I’ve ever seen! My human had me out of the carrier so I could look around. “This is the most wonderful place ever,” she whispered in my ear.
Then guess who I saw the moment we found our booth:
It was my half-sister, Vanna! Or at least, a huge cardboard cutout of her. One of the TICA humans, Anthony, arranged to have these cutouts made for each breed. We didn’t know he was going to use Vana, but she did win Somali of the year in TICA, so it makes sense she would be there.
Here is the whole booth, after my human set it up. There are a couple more things she is bringing (you will see one batch tomorrow). Because we flew across country to get here, we had to keep it simple. You should see what some of the other booths are doing. In fact, I’ll show you.
Here’s the Toyger booth! If you don’t know what a Toyger is, they are bred to have stripes like a tiger does, and they are a fairly new breed. And no, Toygers don’t have any more tiger in them than any other domestic cat. Although all us kitties, including the one in your house have 95.6% of the DNA of tigers.
The Ragdoll booth even has furniture! Many of the booths will have several cats there. I’m the only Somali this year.
My human says I had better be on my game since our booth is so simple and there’s only one of me. I think I can handle it.
In case you can’t quite see, the Somali breed poster in back? Those are all my photos! Anthony said he really liked them. I think I need an agent.
Because we got done early, we had some time before the bus came to take us back to the hotel. It was really cold in the hall (like New York cold, not L.A. cold), so my human put her scarf around me.
We were both tired when we arrived at the hotel, so we took a short nap together. My human dreamed that I got out of my carrier and she had to grab me really fast… and she bopped me on the nose and woke both of us up! Geez. She should know I’m better than that. Usually.
