Photo Hunt: Trees

April 9, 2011 By: Sparkle Cat32 Comments

Whaddya mean I'm just supposed to pose with it and not chew it?

Well, technically it’s just the one tree, but since I’m an indoor-only kitty without a good tree view, you gotta work with me here. This photo is actually from a photo session for my book, and in fact, you can see this very same picture on page 186! If you don’t have your copy yet, here is a hint: click on Amazon’s “Look Inside” function on my book page and do a search on the word “habitat.” Then click through to the next page and there it is!

I would have pruned it for her!

Amazingly enough, we still have this bamboo tree and it has gotten quite a bit bigger. In fact, it desperately needs repotting, except that my human has no idea how to repot it, since it lives in rocks and water and she would like to continue having it like that. It also needs a new location since it has clearly outgrown its usual spot here. The only problem it I will chew off all the leaves if I can reach it. It will probably wind up on the should-be-catio eventually.

I only have one tree (well, bush-tree) also. It is my life’s work to eat through ALL the leaves on it, but it’s kind of hard because as soon as I eat, say, 100 (they’re small, nothing like those giant bamboo leaves), there are 200 more to take their place. Hmmm. I think I need help.

You sure know how to make a tree grow! We have a little one of those trees. Thanks for telling our Mom about the photo hunt comment trick. Do you think tnchick knows that it’s messed up like that?

We got one of those trees…but ours isn’t as big as yours. Our mom did re-pot it and she planted it in regular potting soil…and it’s growing just fine. Wally likes to chew on the leaves.

A very modest tree, but quite appropriate for indoors. I have never been able to keep those bamboo trees happy for long.

I would expect that your human has to just find a larger pot, some rocks of varying sizes and weigh the top of the roots with larger flat rocks.

My trees are the outdoor type. Perfect for kitteh climbing (yo have that directly from Benjamin who can attest, at lest to the climbability of the second and feels that, in his expert opinion, the second has potential).

That is a great tree, Sparkle. We have a ficus tree inside which gets to live on the deck in the summer. It has reached ceiling height now, so my dad will need to trim all its new top growth during the summer, otherwise it won’t be able to come back in next Fall.

We think that bamboo tree is terrific. We want one. But it does need a new space so it can get even bigger. We sure hope the human figures out how to repot it. Keep us posted. Hope you have a great week end.

I’ve heard that, but I can tell you that THIS bamboo tree’s luck ran out the moment it came to live here with my black-thumbed human.
