I am not 100% sure, but I assume that Hello Kitty is supposed to be symbolic of a real kitty. My human discovered Hello Kitty in the 1970s (if that doesn’t date her, nothing does!). You might say she was an early adopter. And now thirty-some-odd years later, she is still buying Hello Kitty stuff. You would think having a real kitty to say hello to would nullify the need for Hello Kitty.
This thing doesn’t even make a good cat toy.
Uh oh. I knew Hello Kitty back in the 70’s too. Does that make me…..OLD???! EEEK! I like to think that Hello Kitty stuff makes me stay young. 🙂
Mom is wearing one of her Hello Kitty pjs this morning! She’s so silly!

Our mom has a couple of those hello kitty things, too.

Well…hello, Kitty!!
We think Hello Kitty is cute but of course we know that real kitties are way cuter!
MY mom has a Hello Kitty umbrella and a Hello Kitty purse! And she is a squillion years old. Now, she won’t use them outside of the house no..she a coward.
TW never got into the Hello Kitty thing even though she loves kitties—just not me. Lemme know if they ever do a Photo Hunt for FEET. HAH!
Sparkle~ you are so witty!
~ Let’s ‘play’ next weekend at The Saturday PhotoHunt.
I think Hello Kitty is cute but not a big fan of her/him.
I’m another old person who began collecting Hello Kitty in the late 1970’s. The gene has been passed on to my 21 year old daughter. Purses, sweaters, toys, shoes sporting the iconic kitty are scattered throughout our home! I even have a Hello Kitty rice cooker!
HA!!! I discovered Hello Kitty in 7th grade…1976 or 77, right when it came to the States. So yeah, I’m old, too. 🙂
Hello Kitty is meant to be a Maneki Neko, which is one reason she hasn’t got a tail…
That is a very nice symbol–although I think real cats are better. We need no symbols.
The publicist does not understand Hello Kitty. But she knows a lot of people like it. She does not understand any of that kawai stuff
Hello Kitty is back in style.
Mine’s up, too

We always like saying hello to you Sparkle!
All little girls are crazy about “Hello Kitty” me included, lol !
But it doesn’t exist for so long I think it swapped over to Belgium around 2005.
Our mommy loves HK too. Earlier in the week she bought a set of HK zipped pouches to carry change & she’s no spring chickie!
That’s a great lunch box though…. Never could replace you, Sparkle…
pawhugs, Max
So beautiful pictures, my mammy and I are big fans of Hello Kitty! 🙂

Oh, our Mom LUFFS H K. Seriously. We just had to buy a new microwave oven, and had to put our paw down when she was tempted to buy an HK one.
Mom said ” Hello Kitty ” is cute !
It’s always remind her when she was young but she never buy it. Because my mom look like a tomboy…tee..heh.
