My human finished getting all her shots, so we are cleared to start doing therapy work! At a workshop she went to last weekend, the therapy pet humans gave her a list of things she will need to bring with me when we go on our visits. They also suggested getting a tote with rollers to make it easier to cart around. She decided on this Hello Kitty backpack with wheels since… well, I’m a kitty and I’m going to be stopping in to say hello to people!
Here are some of the things we need to take with us on our visits.
Binga is not invited along. She would not be able to pass the test.
This isn’t a real cat brush — it’s actually a baby brush. They told my human to buy something with gentle bristles in case I am visiting someone who wants to brush me, but who can’t handle a brush well. That way, if I get poked in the face it won’t hurt.
We also have to bring a spray bottle with cleaner in it (plus some paper towels and a real towel) in case an accident happens that we need to clean up right away. I think this is more for dogs… I hope it is more for dogs! I would hate to embarrass myself like that.
They didn’t specifically say to include tissues — or wipes either — but my human thinks they will be handy to bring along. Which I think is funny because at home she is kind of the opposite of a cleanliness freak.
I also needed a shorter leash. For dogs, the therapy pet humans suggested a two or three foot leash, but all my human could find were four foot, which might be okay for me since I’m a small kitty and not very tall. We need a shorter leash because apparently they don’t want me getting into things… which I have to admit, I have a habit of doing.
And of course you remember the instant camera and film I got the day of my evaluation, right? I’ll also have cards specific to the therapy organization and brochures, but those will be given to me, along with my official therapy vest, the day of my first visit… which will be next Friday!
That’s a lot of stuff, isn’t it? But I think there is one thing my human hasn’t packed in here yet.
The treats! The therapy humans said I could have treats on my visit, so I can do tricks and the people I visit can reward me personally. I think that will be my favorite part!
That tote is adorable! And Summer, you and your human are going to make so many faces light up when they see you arriving with your adorable tote. We can’t wait to hear all about your first session 🙂
the critters in the cottage xo

We love that HK tote, and we are SO excited to hear about your first visit, Summer!
We thought she forgot to pack you ! You look so cute in the Hello Kitty bag ! We’re looking forward to hear of your first visit as an official therapy cat ! Purrs
The lady who brings her therapy dog to meowmy;s facility only has a waist bag filled with the bare bones of necessities…you sure do need to being along lots of things.
We can’t wait to hear all about your therapy visits! We think you are going to enjoy that, Summer! Have fun!
We just know you and your mom are going to be awesome. Dynamic two-some for sure!
Wow ! you are becoming a kind of professional psy nurse ! Comforting and cuddling the people, what a great idea. So far I only have heard of dogs, some rapids too, but never a cat. Wonderful job !
Summer you look all set to begin visiting! I know you are going to bring a lot of joy and smiles to everyone you visit – your Hello Kitty tote is adorable like you……..I bet you’re going to LOVE meeting new people!
Hugs, Sammy
That’s a really cute tote, Summer. It’s purrfect for you and all the things you need to bring. We know you’ll do great as a therapy cat.
You’re going to be a great therapy cat! I can’t wait to hear all about it!!
That bag is as cute as you. It should make the sick humans smile before they even see you. TW has a roller bag on wheels but she wishes she could find a Hello Kitty one. Good luck next Friday.

Kisses
Nellie
Looks like you’re ready to go Summer!
I had no idea how much stuff you needed to carry with you to each place you visit. You are going to make so many people happy. Binga is funny, definitely not therapy cat material 🙂
Summer, I want to pick you up, gently scratch your chin and the back of your neck, pet your soft warm fur, put you on my lap, and listen to you purr!
That sure is a lot of loot, Summer! Tell your human not to leave you behind!
I bet you’re excited, Summer!
I can’t wait to read about your first Therapy visit. I think you are going to do a lot of people a lot of good.
Oh boy!

p.s. We just went to the Love On 4 Paws site. It looks like you’re the only kitty volunteer. You’re a pioneer!
I think this is fantastic, Summer! If I could stand people other than my Human, you know, *touching me* and stuff, I would like to do this too. It is sad when people who are in assisted living or nursing homes can’t have their kitties and dogs anymore and the y miss furs and purrs and snuggles. You are an Official Good Girl.
We cannot wait to hear how your first visit goes, Summer! You are definitely prepared with all your supplies.
Summer, Mom is in love with your new Hello Kitty back pack. We are so super excited for you, and we cannot wait to see you in your therapy vest. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Perfect backpack for you, Summer! I laughed about your human getting her shots. Usually, it’s the kitty who has to have them, but you’re such a traveler that you’re probably all set.
Wow – so impressed. I bet you will be everyone’s favorite visitor! And that last photo? Adorbs!
Hello kitty.
OMC Summer that backpack is pawesome! You are going to make so many new friends 🙂
xoxo,
Matilda
Summer I am so excited for you and your human. The resident kitty at my Gma’s facility was such a blessing to all the residents and I know your visits will such a blessing to all you visit.
Hugs madi your bfff
That’s very exciting pretty Summer, we can’t wait to hear all about it. Good luck at the show sweetie!
You certainly look prepared and ready to go “Wow” those folks in need of kitty cat therapy. How exciting for you. We are very happy for you and your mom. What a great big way to give back to the community. We are very proud of you all. We have to agree with keeping Binga home. She’s a tortie with tortitude and beauty. Happy Caturday! MOL
Looks like you are all ready Summer. Can’t wait to hear all about your first visit.
We hope that everything goes well for you Summer but just make sure your Mom has packed you some special treats.
We are telling Mum she can’t have a pink Hello Kitty bag as she got herself a pink Tiniest Tiger bag for Blogpaws – although you have a lot to put in your bag too (you do NOT want to know whay Mum carries around with her…. S.T.U.F.F.)
Is this from The Tiniest Tiger, the book by Joanne McGonagle, by any chance?
You are right – Triple T Studios, The Tiniest Tiger, and conservationcubclub.com are all related!
Well, Summer and Gracie really remind me of each other!
Both are super cute kittens!
And, both are playful, with loud purrs!
We admire how dedicated you are. And yeah, that HK pack is just purrrfect.
I think you will really enjoy your new job, Summer. I know the people you visit will enjoy you.
That’s a lot of gear! Our mommy is going nuts over the Hello Kitty luggage. Mol! We also thought she meant she hadn’t packed you! Have a great Caturday!
There’s a lot of stuff to take, a lot of prep to do! You’ll be fantastic at this, Summer. It’s a wonderful service that your and your biped are doing.
WE thought you meant she hadn’t packed you, Summer! You do look very cute in there! We know it will all go splendidly well and we can’t wait to hear all about it!
Purrs,
