Most of you know that I am not overly fond of the dog that lives here. She was here when I arrived in October, 2002 and I have never warmed up to her. But can you blame me? She is ten times my size, and is not at all aware of the damage she could do to a small cat like me when she starts jumping around. Plus I was not raised around dogs, so I had no idea what she was when I first saw her. Surprisingly, in the years I have lived here, I have made it so that she is actually a little afraid of me because I hiss at her, and if she does not leave me alone, I’m not above taking a swipe at her.
All that said, I know some cats are just the opposite — they love dogs! Like my roommate Binga. She and the dog are best friends and they hang out together. Boodie is kind of scared of everything, but she would probably be indifferent to the dog if the dog didn’t chase her. (Part of it is Boodie’s fault for running — I hold my ground.)
So I decided to start a new poll: Are you a cat who likes dogs? Look to your right and scroll down a bit and you’ll find it. Vote. Let me know if you’re with me and are not a dog fan, or if you’re more of a dog lover, like Binga. Need I remind you — cats only! No humans and especially no dogs! That would be cheating.
Artemisia is weird she actually kisses our doggie on the nose. Scylla is stupid she runs from him so he chases her. Fenris loves to play chase and he doesn’t mind if you chase him or he chases U. I am of course sensible. He is part of our family so I put up with him. Since he was a puppy when Mom had the audacity to bring him home I showed him who was boss from day one. Me of course. That said having a dog is pretty cool as you can boss it around no mater how big it is. ~Socks
I voted for Grace and Hobbes, I hope you don’t mind. They both don’t mind dogs. I think they are used to Sammy the Weiner Dog by now.
We kitties in this house don’t really know the difference, but our MomBean sure knows … and she chooses to have kitties for her housemates, not dogs. They are friendly and all that, but they slobber a lot and make lots of noise and often their noses go where they’re not wanted!
Cats rule!!
=)
Like dog???? Are you kidding???????
The only dogs that have been in MY house are little yippy wild things that are annoying and scary and just big goofs…honestly why would anyone want to be near those things, they are not at all dignified like us cats. Keep them out of this house!
Mango says: I don’t like them, but they are quite entertaining. I just lay there calmly and watch them make fools of themselves. Strange creatures.
Bella says: What the HELL are those things!? Keep them away from ME!
Sumari says: I scaredy. I hidey.
Sparkle,
The votes from Cat Saturday are as follows:
Merlin (yes, but only small and cute puppies)
Coco (NO! Are you crazy?)
Domino (no, but I don’t mind raccoons or possums)
Two firm NO!!!s here. Our Aunt lived here for a bit with our cousin Yorkie, Max… and that didn’t go well. He barked non stop, peed everywhere, and chased Toby constantly.
We just don’t look at our brother Shadow who is a big Black Lab. He used to bark at us and we’d hiss back. Now we just pretend each other aren’t there. Now that we have learned to stay out of each others food everything is MUCH better 🙂
We love our sisfur Sadie! She’s the best woofie sisfur ever!
When Saylor first moved in, she didn’t like our Dixie Dog. Now she loves to play with Dixie Dog’s tail!
12 paws down on woofies!!! **Boo** **Hiss** We’d rather run & hide until the beast disappears!!
Our Mom says some of our brothers at the bridge had different opinions on them from us: Austin didn’t mind them, but would definitely stand his ground if one came running up to him – Grandma’s woofie would even bring her ball over, expecting Austin to throw it!! MOL! Tigger HATED them, but would intimidate the woofies & chase after them! (the woofies had good reason to run – Tigger was a big, hulking 22lb Main Coon mix!) Tobey LOVED them – whenever one of Mom’s family members came over with her woofie, he’d run up & flop over ready to play (but he was only 7lbs & the woofie was 55lbs – so Mom made sure to watch them!!)
Anyway, we voted with OUR opinions – NO WOOFIES!!!
Have a great day!!
~Nico, Simon & JayJay 🙂
Well, Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat are definitely not fans, but we’ve really never been around dogs…We probably would not like them unless they were little dogs and didn’t bark real loud…Your dog looks sweet and calm through the window though…kisses…Calle, Halle, Sukki
We don’t have a woofe living here…thank goodness!! But we have a woofie neighbor who we like to watch from the window. She’s pretty silly and very entertaining. But we don’t think we would like living with her. We like her from afar!!
I haven’t done the poll since I’m not a cat. Just a fake rat. But I have to say that I really like dogs a lot. But I understand how you feel about them. It would be the same for a human if they were living with a bear.
Well, we of course have our Tommy and he is undeniably the best woofie in the whole world. We all LOVE him with all our hearts!
Purrs,
The Chans
We have lots of dog-blogger friends, but we’ve never actually met a woofie in person…
Hi Sparkle, I have four cats and the voting is as follows:
1 Ewwww
1 Cool
2 Meh
Can we get 3 votes?
Jonah – I used to live with a dog before I was adopted into a new home. They’re cool. They’re of a lesser intelligence than cats and can’t jump so what’s the harm? Cats always end up looking better.
Fionna – dogs scare me especially the Frenchie who came to our house one time. At first I was fine but then my fur puffed up like I had a mohawk (At least that’s what my daddy said!) and I ran away.
Micky – I’m a pretty easy going guy. I’m curious about dogs especially that Frenchie who came to our house. I used to be a stray cat so not many things bother me much.
Well I loved MY dog but he went to heaven. I did however make my displeasure known to one and all with regards to ALL OTHER dogs. They are NOT allowed in MY house.
We tolerate our dogs.
Thanks for purring for Sniffie!
Sniffie and the Florida Furkids
We’re not exactly sure how to vote since we don’t really know any dogs except the very nice black labrador who lives next door. We live in a duplex so we can listen to each other through the walls, and he likes to come out in the yard and look at us when we are sitting in the window. We are not scared of him, but do not know how we would feel if he was inside with us!
P.S. Our mom’s rainbow bridge cat Fletcher liked dogs much more than he liked other cats! She’s not sure why, but he was a rescue, so we’re guessing he was raised with dogs.
I’m a meh they are okay kind of cat but Gemini is a no way kind of cat… decisions… who gets the vote?
I like dogs but my Sister Gracie was rescued from a dog attack so we can have any live here.
We’ve never met a dog! We’ve seen them walking by our windows, but that’s as close as we’ve ever gotten. Our Moms have been looking at dogs recently at the local animal shelter. We are discouraging that behavior! Why mess up a good thing?
Livvy has not yet learned to type, so I am interceding for her here.
Livvy didn’t like or dislike Daisy the Beagle. She is an intensely curious and innocent cat, so when she first saw Daisy, she trotted over to her quizzically. Daisy was a mild dog (no pouncing); and they tolerated each other. When Daisy was sick, Livvy buzzed around her to see what was going on.
I babysat some Yorkies for a few days, and Livvy DID NOT LIKE them. They barked and barked, and seemed to drive her bananas. Unfortunately for Livvy, my daughter desperately wants a Yorkie (she cares for rescue pups), so we’ll be getting one when the kitchen is done. But the dog will be upstairs with the daughter. Livvy and I will be in my office (her favorite room).
Ugh, Yorkies! My human likes them too. Fortunately, her boyfriend doesn’t consider them “real” dogs and any dog is too “needy” for my human to want as a pet of her own (she says she likes dogs when they belong to someone else, and the dog here is technically her boyfriend’s), so it is unlikely we’ll ever have a Yorkie living here.
On second thought, maybe a Yorkie wouldn’t be that bad… at least it would be one creature in the house that was smaller than me!
I have no experience with a dog in my house, so I am nervous of strange ones. But several of my blog friends have doggies they get along with really well, like Tommy, Grete, and Sadie.
None of us has ever been around dogs, except the barking one on the other side of the fence that Nicki hisses and lunges at, so we don’t think we’d like them at all!
Sparkle, we voted but there are many many cats here and there are some of us that do NOT like the dogs that live here. The dogs wouldn’t hurt them but they are still a little afraid of them. But then some of us really like to snuggle with the dogs. Sorry you don’t like your dog. They are really big.
Have a great day.
Well, I have never met a doggie in person, but I have lots of dog-blog pallies!
Me too re the dog friends online. But I look at it this way: my human is friends with some people online she would probably not be friends with in real life. Hence me and online dogs.
APPROVED. And we can’t blame you at all – besides, she’s a big dog, she won’t mind being outside.
There probably should have been a choice “SOME dogs are cool.” Our Aki (may she frolic forever with all her friends on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge *sniffle*) was a wonderful dog: she even tried to rescue Sinead when the coyotes got her! But then those little yappy dogs and the dogs that like to chase other critters … not cool at all.
I have sometimes been called a Dat (a cat who acts like a dog), but that was from a Cog (a dog who acts like a cat). We are all in this together.
I agree with you. Dogs Suck.
