The other night, my human found a cricket in the kitchen. She remembered how much Sparkle used to love hunting crickets, so she fetched me… and got a completely different response! She edited five minutes of footage down to less than a minute, so you can see. It’s kind of embarrassing, and the video quality isn’t very good. But it’s already posted on Instagram, so I figured you might as well see it here.
If you can’t see the above video, you can watch it here on YouTube.

I remember this. Summer looks more like she’s doing ballet instead of trapping a big mol
I’m a lover not a fighter! MOL!
At least you tried, Summer. My first kitty found her first cricket and swatted it once, twice, three times and the fourth time the poor thing finally died! I love the DARK coloring on your back. Really beautiful.
Can’t be good at everything!
Tasty!
Why hunt when we have servants to serve us. Zoee loves bugs, Django likes them, I could care in the least, Razzle-Dazzle is unknown yet.
Bodacious
My Tori doesn’t hunt very well either. She’d much rather play with it.
Oooooo we here would have LOTS of fun taunting the cricket!!!
Purrz!
Selina
Summer don’t feel bad. My kitties are so spoilef, they do exactly what you did. Mostly with spiders but. I tell them, do your job cat lol. They just look at me as if to say. “But mom, it’s not a treat”
Meow Summer mee thinkss yore practicin AHIMSA>>non injury to all life formss…it iss Buddhist concept…
Mee thinkss you cuud rite a story THE Kitty an thee Kricket!!!!
**purrsss** BellaDharma
Oh dear, oh dear. You do indeed make up for it in cuteness and that stretch was most luxurious. We do wonder what you would do with a mouse…..
You know what…you might not be a mighty hunter, but you are the best bell ringer and high fiver I know!
Purrs
Marv
Live and let live right Summer? I enjoy watching bugs……I’m not much on catching them but watching them – count me in!
Hugs, Teddy
We can see that a treat was probably in order to make you think this was a fun game. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
Don’t worry Summer, not everyone is a Mighty Hunter. You have so many other good things you do instead.
I loved that tentative paw touch..to find out if it *would* jump or do anything…gotta be safe you know, MOL!
And the end made petcretary squee…your head bonk after that treat, OMC! Way better than a cricket who jumps and didn’t want to play with you…
Perhaps you are distantly related to our Tommy, Summer? He is a hunting dg who does not hunt!
Purrs,
The Chans
You made furrends with it. I can’t believe it. Actually TW claims I’d do the same only I’d just ignore it. Today’s cats aren’t hunters. We want our food served in the dish like the royalty we are.
Were you inviting it to dance with you, Summer? Or maybe do some stretching exercises together? You were very nice and polite. Sorry to say, that cricket wouldn’t have lasted a minute with any of us.
I love how gentle you were with it!
ha, that’s pretty funny. No interest at all, Summer! Well my girls herded a very large spider across the kitchen floor last week and I was the one running away.
Who wants to hunt a nasty old cricket anyway – you were elegant and dainty – no worries
You are too sweet to kill a cricket. Smart girl, it is bad luck to kill one.
Mol! Mol! Summer, we’d probably be the same. the way it goes here, the bigger and hairier bugs that creep our mom out are the ones we don’t want to have anything to do with either 😀 and crickets definitely creep her out.
pip, minnie, hollie, sharpie, ditto, TL
MOL ! You’re so cute ! You’re definitely not a bug hunter ! Purrs
Well Summer, I don’t think they would ask the Princess to catch bugs in the palace!
You already do so much as it is with you therapy and modeling and blogging…. I’m
sure your human thinks so too. It’s always good to see a video with you as a star though.
You are lovely as usual.
You were very kind to that cricky by tapping it softly with your paw. Purr purr purr. I’m like you, if the bug doesn’t move then I’m not really interested in it. If it jumps or runs around then I’m gonna bat at it! Tee hee hee.
P.S. (Pussycat note): I heard you and your momma will be at the Portland cat show in December?! Mom is so excited and hopes to come up and see you! I wish I could come see you, too, but I don’t travel.
Summer, that clicket (that’s what I’ve been calling them for years!) just wasn’t that interesting, was it?
Jimney is for sure one boring cricket. Hardly worth your energy
Hugs Cecilia
You’re already a therapy cat, pet me cat, and model, plus you ring bells and do other tricks. Does your human expect you to do everything??
We probably woulda reacted the same way, Summer. That cricket just kinda laid there and played dead.
Made me and mommy laff!
We sure enjoyed your video sweet Summer but I think that cricket was getting a therapy visit from you!
Brian…that was true if I ever read it.
That cricket would be hopping for its life here, that’s for sure. But then again, we have lots of practice with water bugs. I have a confession, though. Sometimes Lexy and I just lose interest and let the bug hide.
Ha. You have STAFF to do things like catch bugs. You have more impawtant things to do.
MOL, MOL, oh Summer sweetie, you are too cute. You probably thought your mom was just introducing you to a new friend. We would have been pouncing and hunting. Great video! Happy Purrsday. Purrs
Ah, too cute! You’re not a bug catching cat. You’re too smart for that! You have bigger and better things to do!
* Tears of laughter *
Honestly the quality of the video doesn’t matter, your sweet face is priceless.
Hmm the great and might huntress…….? Maybe not 😉
We would have been all over it!
