My Hunting FAIL

October 18, 2018 By: Summer Samba39 Comments

somali cat puzzled about hunting

The other night, my human found a cricket in the kitchen. She remembered how much Sparkle used to love hunting crickets, so she fetched me… and got a completely different response! She edited five minutes of footage down to less than a minute, so you can see. It’s kind of embarrassing, and the video quality isn’t very good. But it’s already posted on Instagram, so I figured you might as well see it here.

If you can’t see the above video, you can watch it here on YouTube.

At least you tried, Summer. My first kitty found her first cricket and swatted it once, twice, three times and the fourth time the poor thing finally died! I love the DARK coloring on your back. Really beautiful.

Why hunt when we have servants to serve us. Zoee loves bugs, Django likes them, I could care in the least, Razzle-Dazzle is unknown yet.

Summer don’t feel bad. My kitties are so spoilef, they do exactly what you did. Mostly with spiders but. I tell them, do your job cat lol. They just look at me as if to say. “But mom, it’s not a treat”

And the end made petcretary squee…your head bonk after that treat, OMC! Way better than a cricket who jumps and didn’t want to play with you…

You made furrends with it. I can’t believe it. Actually TW claims I’d do the same only I’d just ignore it. Today’s cats aren’t hunters. We want our food served in the dish like the royalty we are.

Were you inviting it to dance with you, Summer? Or maybe do some stretching exercises together? You were very nice and polite. Sorry to say, that cricket wouldn’t have lasted a minute with any of us.

Mol! Mol! Summer, we’d probably be the same. the way it goes here, the bigger and hairier bugs that creep our mom out are the ones we don’t want to have anything to do with either 😀 and crickets definitely creep her out.

Well Summer, I don’t think they would ask the Princess to catch bugs in the palace!
You already do so much as it is with you therapy and modeling and blogging…. I’m
sure your human thinks so too. It’s always good to see a video with you as a star though.
    You are lovely as usual.

You were very kind to that cricky by tapping it softly with your paw. Purr purr purr. I’m like you, if the bug doesn’t move then I’m not really interested in it. If it jumps or runs around then I’m gonna bat at it! Tee hee hee.

P.S. (Pussycat note): I heard you and your momma will be at the Portland cat show in December?! Mom is so excited and hopes to come up and see you! I wish I could come see you, too, but I don’t travel.

That cricket would be hopping for its life here, that’s for sure. But then again, we have lots of practice with water bugs. I have a confession, though. Sometimes Lexy and I just lose interest and let the bug hide.
