I haven’t been out in the front yard in a long time, so my human took me out yesterday.
She says that I need to get out more to places other than cat shows, hotel rooms and the occasional pet store, especially if I want to be a therapy cat. The thing with us kitties is that if you stop introducing us to new things, we start getting really nervous every time we are taken out of our comfort zone and our world starts shrinking. So the best thing is to take us out of our comfort zone in small doses.
Oh yeah, and give us lots of treats when you do that. Can you see the big bag of Greenies sitting on the concrete seat in the background?
Since I am not outside as much as I should be, the cars driving up the street made me a little uncomfortable. But my human made me stay out while they drove past, and held onto me so I felt safer. She says that since I have no cat shows over the holidays, she will be taking me out to a lot of different places. She calls it “desensitization,” and says that eventually I will be okay even in a busy train station.
Don’t worry, I didn’t let my human call all the shots. I let her know when I was done.
Now, where are those treats!
How fun <3
I shall remind my peep of this. Get her to keep introducing me to new forms of the nip.
Purrs,
Seville
Summer, your human is very thoughtful. She is preparing you for some fun adventures in the future that you are bound to love 🙂
the critters in the cottage xo
You are going to be the best therapy cat ever. Mommy was hoping I could be a therapy cat, but I’m too sneezy.
What a beautiful neighborhood you live in, Summer! Is your house on one of those tours tourists take to see famous purrsonalities?
You are such a pro, Summer. I’ve been wearing my harnesses around the house and mom says it’s time to start getting out! I think I’m going for a ride in the car tomorrow.
My mom used to walk me almost every day – but then she got lazy!!! I need to get her going again!! You look great Summer!! Love Toby
I love how you got to go outside… When Lucy was a baby, I tried to get a leash on her but she fought me. I regret giving in to her because I would love to have her outside too
Your human is right – the more things we experience the wider our world becomes. Mine is very narrow as I was such a big ‘fraidy cat from the very start and to this day while I do enjoy walking around my OWN yard, other people and noises and places scare me. You’re a brave girl and with all the shows you do and people you see, your world is BIG. Your yard is pretty and I think the additional touch of a bag of greenies at the ready is a GREAT idea for ALL THE TIME!!!! HAHAHAHAHA
Hugs, Sammy
We love that you get to go out and explore so much!
I’m so happy to see this and it’s right outside your door. No excuses, mom.
* High paw * you demand those treats lady!

Treats make everything better!

Cool! Outside…what’s that like?
have a wonderful weekend…
Noodle and crew
Whoa! TW tries to bribe me with treats sometimes. I hope you don’t run into any woofies. They’re really scary.
You have a nice neighborhood. I would let you in if you came to my door 🙂
What a nice front yard and neighborhood you have.
Did you enjoy the feel of the cool grass between your toes Summer. That is one of my favourite things.
What a fun adventure, beautiful Summer=you are a pro on the leash, sweetie…Our Mommy has always thought you guys have a cool house…Happy weekend, sweet friends…xoxo…Calle, Halle, Sukki, Mommy Cat, Daddy Cat
Going out in the yard sounds like treat enough, but if you can get Greenies as well, go for it. Summer, you live in a super beautiful neighborhood. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
You are very brave, Summer. Even Hobbes gets scared of the cars going by–so he knows to stay close to the house –behind the bushes is always a good spot.
Did you enjoy the breezes? My kitties always enjoy sniffing the air.
The only thing better than the breezes is the birdies!
If you knocked on our door, we would definitely let you in, Summer. It’s always fun to hear about your adventures!
I tries to go to the outsides but Mom gets mad cause I don’t have my leash on then when she tries to put my leash on I go catatonic 😉 MOL
xoxo.
Matilda
What a beautiful place ! We like that desensitization stuff, especially when treats are involved. Purrs
I just KNOW those neighbors would invite you in for a little brekkie. How could they resist YOU???
I think MomKatt needs to start doing this with us in the car … in preparation for You Know What …
Have a great weekend, my dear furriend!
Purrz!

You have a beautiful world, Summer! We agree with being able to expand your world and Greenies certainly can help!
Wow Summer! You live in a most beautiful palace!!!! My Mom would LOVE to see more of the inside because she knows it is gorgeous, homey and cozy!!!! You also have one smart Mama!
You did an amazing job out there pretty Summer!
How exciting! I haven’t been outside in a long time either… maybe my mom will take me now that she has seen this post! — Sophie
Bravo Summer I think you did great on your first out of doors outing in a while.
My feets have not touched the ground since I came to live here at 2 months old.
Way too many insects etc in the South year around. They love damp humid places and it is even damp and humid in the winter.
hugs madi your bffff
Sweet girl, I think you enjoyed your time out. I know I did looking at you.
It sure looks like you had fun Summer!
Outside for fun? How lucky is that!
Cars scare me – maybe I should get out more…
You have such an exciting life!!!
We like the idea of desensitization if it means getting treats. 🙂
I wish I had been desensitized.
Oh Summer, you are just too cute, letting Mom know when you were ready to go back inside. You are going to make the best therapy cat.
We’re sure it’s exciting to explore new places.
That last shot is excellent, Summer!
Purrs,
The Chans
It is good to see you exploring new things and places.
While we are not likely to ever go out, we do enjoy looking at your adventures 🙂
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
Good luck with all your new adventures, Summer.
It looks like you did really well outside. We go outside a LOT, but we have to admit, never in the front yard! We arent used to leashes. So you are good with one thing and we are good with the other.
Looks like fun…. Treats always help!
We hope you enjoyed your time out in the fresh air Summer – we love to feel the sun on our faces and a breeze in our furs.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
