Here we are, at the end of 2021, and yes, the humans are still masking up. And while things aren’t back to normal, or whatever passed as normal before 2020, this year was a mixture of fun and weirdness. At least for me! So let’s look back.
Let’s start off with the weirdness. After that lawyer got stuck in a kitten filter on a Zoom hearing, I had to dress up for the occasion. If you got my 2022 calendar, you even get to have a copy of the photo.
I do want to say my own Zoom meetings went a lot more smoothly. I took part in a cat first aid class, attended an Acrocat’s birthday party, and joined my human in a Yoga class. They were all fun, even if I missed the in person contact.
Of course, nothing changed for Cat World Domination Day! Like every year, it was an awesome party, and this year’s casino theme was one of my better ones, I think.
And eventually things did start to get back to normal. I did this group of instructional videos for Sleepypod in the spring, and a few months later, I did a UK commercial for some pet steps. I plan to do more of these in 2022.
I’m slowly getting back into cat shows, although the local ones are very sparse right now. We will probably start traveling again in 2022, although not right away.
Best of all, my therapy cat visits have started back up, and we have returned to the hospitals. I did have a glitch mid-December, when my human came down with shingles. It was just a mild case, but the doctor recommended waiting until the new year to schedule more visits. Our next one is January 5.
A lot has gone on around the house too! We have a feral cat family living out back, so my human got the mom and three kittens Trapped, Neutered, and Returned here. They live at the far end of my backyard, and our neighbor takes care of them. We still need to catch the dad, who shows up sporadically, but we’ve had too much wildlife here to set traps again.
Along with the successes, we’ve had some fails too. Including my catnip garden. After thriving for the most part for nearly a decade, all my plants got killed by pests this year! That was sad.
And speaking of failures, where were these ladybugs when I needed them? After we released them, they disappeared, never to be seen again.
The better news is that we are doing videos again! Mostly shorts, but I’m hoping to do a few longer ones (like the cooking video) in 2022.
Towards the end of the year, my human was having all sorts of stuff done with the house, mostly painting inside and out. I get the feeling this is going to continue into 2022.
And in spite of Covid and all the masks and social distancing, I still got to have a visit with Santa! That was one of December’s highlights!
And it was fun spending Christmas with my human and her boyfriend. We’ll all be together to ring in the New Year too! I hope your 2022 is as fun and exciting as mine promises to be!
