Meet the Breeds… and Coming Home

February 13, 2018 By: Summer Samba43 Comments

somali cat at Meet the Breeds

I hate to tell you this, but my human and I were so busy at Meet the Breeds that my human only had time for a couple of photos! It was insane. So many people wanted to pet me and hang out with me. It was even crazier than the San Diego Cat Show and the CFA International Cat Show! Since we were stuck in our booth the whole time (except for a couple of bathroom breaks for my human — she didn’t have her own litter box like me), I though you might like to see some of the other kitties in attendance via Instagram.

A post shared by Tiffany Hagler-Geard (@thgeard) on Feb 12, 2018 at 8:24am PST

My human really wanted to see the Lykoi kitty, but missed it. Lykois are a new breed and they are called “werewolf cats.” I guess if a werewolf were cute, it might look kind of like a Lykoi.

Of course, Sphynxes were there! Everyone is fascinated by them… but I think it is for all the wrong reasons. Get past how strange they look, and they are really sweet, affectionate cats. And at Meet the Breeds, people could touch them and feel how their skin is like chamois.

The agility ring was right across from us, and this Abyssinian did an awesome job! My human says I’m too lazy to do agility, unless maybe I got tempted by treats.

somali cat napping at Meet the Breeds

My human made sure to let me have as many breaks as I needed — and I needed a lot! To make sure humans also got to pet me, she put my enclosure on the front table for a while. That way people could reach in and pet my belly, which I love, and I could still get my rest.

somali cat ready for more visitors

I certainly let her know when I was up and ready for more visitors! If you are wondering about the selfie props, they were a hit for the first couple of hours. But so many kids kept asking or trying to take them that my human wound up putting them away for the rest of the day. Next time we use them, we will make a sign. Maybe that will help. Lola the Rescued Cat’s human came by, and she gave us a ride back to the hotel, which was really nice of her.

somali cat on top of cabinet in hotel room

Back at the hotel room, my human had a problem! there was no closet, just a cubby to hang coats. So she didn’t know what to do with the trash can, since I like getting into them! She usually puts them in the closet. This time she didn’t have that option, so she put it on top of the cubby, until she found I liked getting up there!

track can in cubbyhole

This was her solution. It worked, and I never did manage to pull it out. After Meet the Breeds, my human and Lola the Rescued Cat’s human went out to dinner.

The trip home was uneventful. I had a little time to hang out.

somali cat at boarding gate

Unfortunately, there were no delays before we boarded so I didn’t get as much time to entertain visitors as I wanted.

cats in kitchen sniffing each other

Back home, there was much welcoming and butt sniffing to be had. In case you are wondering, Binga eats in that kennel you see in the background, so neither Boodie nor I steal her food.

somali cat with bottle from Lola the Rescued Cat

Lola the Rescued Cat’s human gave us this awesome stainless steel water bottle! It’s a good reminder for my human to get lots of fluids because she started feeling sick on the way home.

You were a busy busy lady at that show & I’m sure your public couldn’t get enough of you! There were a couple of new breeds at the TICA show Mom went to a few weeks ago. One was the Tobbobs. Were those at your show, too? Summer, you & I need to get together ’cause I love to get into trashcans too! We could have some fun. Mom keeps them hidden in cupboards to keep me out of them. Phewy on her! Purrs!

Summer, I love getting into the trashcans in the bedrooms around here. I turn them over and if there are any filmy plastic bags as when mom w\throws the wrapper the newspaper is wrapped in to be delivered..I love licking it. Mom takes it away.
