Can you guess where I was in this photo? If you said “the airport,” you are correct! My human grumbled a bit because it’s the airport that she doesn’t like and calls LAXative. I don’t know why she hates it. I met all sorts of people who adored me, including a group of people from Estonia! They were awesome.
When I wasn’t making friends, I dozed. And purred. And dozed some more.
Then the most wonderful thing happened — our plane got delayed by an hour! For some reason I seemed to be the only happy one. A lot of people were grumbling. My friends from Estonia had to reroute their trip. For me, it was extra time I didn’t have to be in my carrier. Which was a good thing because it turned out we were flying to Newark, New Jersey and that was nearly a five hour flight! But I stayed under the seat in front of my human the whole time and only complained a little. Occasionally, my human gave me treats… but only when I wasn’t complaining. She said she was trying to reinforce good behavior.
We took a Lyft to the hotel in Secaucus, and it was a very unusual trip for my human — it was her first ride ever with a deaf driver! The woman held up a handwritten sign introducing herself, and saying that she was deaf. But it was a smooth ride, and she was a good driver, so she gave her a good review. For some reason, on the ride up, my human kept looking longingly to our right at the bright lights in the distance. I think she’s been there before. Maybe more than once.
Anyhow, we finally got to our hotel in Secaucus and I loved it! My human didn’t because there wasn’t enough room for her to exercise, and no exercise room. Plus the doors open to the outside, and it’s like 30 degrees out there, so I didn’t get to go for a walk.
It’s okay I couldn’t go walking, though, because my human brought my rod and Birbug! (Have you entered my giveaway yet?)
Now, you are probably wondering why my human and I went to the opposite side of the country! Well, I am representing the Somali breed at Meet the Breeds on Saturday! Yes, it’s not just dogs, it’s cats too! A couple of months ago, they were looking for hyper socialized kitties to do this event, and my breeder (not to mention several other people) thought of me! So I will be at Pier 92 all day on Saturday, meeting and greeting, with lots of other breed cats — and a household pet cat too. That’s even better than being at the airport all day! They wanted us to decorate the booth, so my human put together some things. This is some of it. My enclosure, table covers, and some other stuff, is in another bag.
I probably won’t be jumping through my hoop while I’m there, but it’s a new trick I’m learning. My human brought it so we can practice while we’re here.
