It’s Time to Trim the Tree

somali cat helping to trim the tree

My human actually had the Christmas tree out of the closet the day after Thanksgiving. But she has been lax about trimming it. She got it partway done before we left for Portland. So now that we are back, I decided I’d better help her out.

For reasons too lengthy to get into, she doesn’t have any actual heirloom ornaments. Unless you count the ones she got herself in the early 1990s. They do date back over 25 years, so that is pretty vintage! I told her which ones to put on the tree next.

You probably figured that she had quite a few cat ornaments.

Some of them she acquired more recently, like this one. She found several that featured a mischievous calico cat a few years ago. The cat before Binga and Sparkle was a calico, and was a very special cat to her, so she got them.

Don’t worry, I don’t play with the ornaments. Actually, neither did Binga, if you can believe that! And Boodie just doesn’t care.

With my help, my human got a lot done with the tree before going out to meet a friend. There are still more ornaments to put up, but it is looking good already!

MK does not decorate for the holidays, so we live vicariously through other people that do. MK had to stop putting up a tree because one of her Abys, Feisal, kept climbing up at every year!

Beautiful tree!! It’s great all of you choose not to climb the tree or play with the ornaments. Razzle-Dazzle has climbed the tree and Django and Razzle-Dazzle have remove all the ornaments from the bottom of the tree. Zoee and I just love the warmth of the lights and like to sleep under the tree. Oh well the Christmas party is over so hoomin just chooses to leave the ornaments under the tree.

Wow Summer. The tree is magnificent. I had a special Calico too. My Callikit was my baby 20 years. I miss her dearly. I miss Binga too. My girls don’t bother my two trees. They just sit under them

That’s a gorgeous tree Summer. We love that it is filled with so many loving ornaments. It’s so surprising that none of you girls want to actually climb it, MOL. Olivia starting climbing as a wee kitten. Maybe it’s a black cat thing, MOL. Great job surpurrvising the setup Summer. Purrs

oh your tree is lovely! So pretty! Can’t believe no one swats those off! My first husband was Catholic and I used to decorate for Christmas. We had a tree and my Bobo used to knock that tree down every…single…day………it actually was funny!

Of course she needed your help – that’s why it wasn’t already
finished. You both did a nice job – looks real pretty. Most
certainly it was expected there would be a lot of “cat”
ornaments . Someone needs to design a “somali cat” ornament!

The tree looks lovely. Your human is lucky that none of you ever played with the ornaments.
Flynn used to climb the inside of the tree, and one year when I took it down again I found one of the feather coated robins had been relieved of it’s feather coat and was just a bald plastic shell. Eric used to try and climb the outside and invariably pulled it over. They had their own unbreakable decorations at low level.
