I have to give you the “bug warning” on this post! Because if creepy-crawlies make you squeamish, you may not want to look at the next photo! It shows my awesome bug catch!
It’s a house centipede. Nobody seems to like them, even though they are beneficial and eat roaches and termites. Even my human gets the creeps when she sees one. And apparently that’s what happened the other morning because she started yelling from the office for me to come over. Which I ignored. A little while later, I found it in the living room! It was awesome! I started following it around. Next thing I knew, my human showed up with a container and a piece of paper. And we had it.
What a fun adventure! And of course my human had to take video of our catch. Fortunately, the lid was on tight because I kept tipping it over.
You can see the video below, and you also get to see how excited I was!

Once when I was brushing my teeth one of those creepy things was in the sink, just as I was bending over to spit out the toothpaste…OMC! Euuwwwwww!
Good Work, Summer!
Good work, Summer! We relocate all non-poisonous bugs to the outside, too.
Some cats, like Summer, are good but catchers.
I wonder if it is because it something moving.
Anyway, good work.
Oh my Mom would have fainted dead away if she saw one of those….eeek. I personally enjoy it when a flying bug – a fly or ANYTHING with wings – comes in the house when the front door opens and closes. I chase it EVERYWHERE and as soon as it’s in reach I GET IT. Bug catching is something we cats are good at.
Hugs, Teddy
Yuk! I don’t like creepy crawlies with lots of legs. The boys would have caught it and ate it in seconds.
I thought centipedes are poisonous. Maybe that is millipedes. Maybe I’m just dreaming.
OMC those things give me the heebie jeebies!!! I try to be as merciful as possible with bugs, but those instantly meet the bottom of my shoe. In the evening I often find them in the back hall where Mudpie likes to hang out. I live in fear that she’s going to bring a friend to bed one night. (You’ll probably hear me screaming all the way across the country if she ever does!)
I found a dead one of those in the basement sink and it creeped me out. Good hunt. 🙂
Good job hunting down that bug!
Great team work with your human, Summer ! Purrs
Nice work! Glad you safely removed the bug from the house. I didn’t know that they were actually beneficial. I’ll try to be less squeamish about them. Having had a couple of tick bites and a spider bite last summer, I’m sort of over bugs since they all required antibiotics.
My cats aren’t much on catching bugs but mice on the other hand, well they are quite adept at that.
We haven’t had a good bug hunt here for a while, good for you sweet Summer!
Centipedes just make me squirm. Well, mom that is.
Lol. I used to have just “Pointer cats”, but my youngest 2 eat bugs. It would have been crunched and down the hatch before I could get to it. Lol
I am so glad you did not choose to burn the house down!! Very cute! My Ginger would find spiders for me to kill.
You really hunted that bug, Summer. The mom won’t let me get near centipedes because she thinks I’ll eat them, and she thinks that’s gross.
My mom too. No way, she always says.
That is so cool Summer.
I don’t think humans how enough appreciation for our hunting skills 🙂
At least you got a treat!
Purrs, Julie
Okay, I just skimmed this post, because I’m pretty squeamish about bugs, especially centipedes like yours!
However, those things show up once in awhile, and I have to screw up my courage and take care of them.
Ugh…
