Of course! What self-respecting therapy cat wouldn’t want to spend Hug Your Cat Day visiting patients?
At first, I wasn’t sure how the day was going to go, as far as hugs were concerned. On the first floor we visited at the hospital, the patients were either sleeping, or the rooms had the big red sign that meant only nurses were allowed, so we couldn’t go in. A lot of nurses were happy to see me, though, and they petted me lots!
When we went up to another floor, things started to pick up a little. One room had a middle-aged lady visitor, and she said that the patient was in the bathroom so we left, but then she called out after us. The patient wanted to see me after all, even though she was having a sitz bath. So we came back. It turned out to be a young girl, probably the woman’s daughter, and she was so delighted to see me! I was a little sorry, though, that we didn’t catch her at a time when I could sit on the bed with her.
The last floor we visited was the best! A couple of people picked me up and hugged me and lots wanted to pet me. The last lady I visited let me lie down on the bed with her, and I snuggled up and purred and made happy paws and touched her on the chin with one paw. I really enjoyed visiting with her.
I really enjoy being a therapy cat and visiting people! They are always surprised I’m so friendly… but why shouldn’t I be? I love the attention.
