You always get to see me during my photo sessions, and sometimes what happens between the good shots. But today I thought I would show you how I (and my human) prepare for a photo session! The first thing she does after turning on the lights for the set up is use this piece of cardboard. One of the squares here is 18% gray, and she uses it to measure white balance. This card is actually an antique. Her dad had it when she was growing up, and probably before then too.
Once my human has the camera settings the way she wants them, it’s time to get me ready. If I’ve had a bath recently, it’s a pretty simple process. I just need some moisture in my coat, a fur product, and a comb through.
I like this part! Since I have soft, fine fur, I never get any knots. I enjoy getting fluffed out. I’ve been groomed probably thousands of times since I was a kitten. At cat shows, I’m usually groomed several times a day.
My human tries to have some cat toys ready for me, in case she needs to get my attention. I didn’t like all the toys she pulled out for this photo session. I think I will tell you about that later in the week.
And let’s not forget the most important part — my compensation! I don’t ask for my pay up front, but I do demand it as we go along. Otherwise I get bored rather quickly.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what happens on the set before my human starts snapping photos of me!
