Every year about this time, my human makes her annual donations. Since she does not have much family, and she is not close to any of them (she is closer to her boyfriend’s family, in fact), this is the biggest part of her Christmas giving. She always gives the most money to Best Friends Animal Society, and then she has smaller amounts that she gives to other cat rescues and sanctuaries. She tries to pick a handful she hasn’t already donated to in the past year. This time we are doing something a little bit different — we want you to help her choose a rescue to donate to! Please tell me who your favorite rescue is in the comments below and why — it just needs to be U.S. based and a 501(c)3 charity (although you can be from anywhere to suggest a group). Next Tuesday, I will randomly pick a name and my human will donate $25 to them!
If you subscribe to my newsletter, keep an eye open for my mid-month blast today — you have another chance to suggest a rescue group that you like. My human will be choosing a second group to donate to, picking randomly from the choices given to me by newsletter subscribers only. So that is a total of $50 being donated with your help!
Both the ones that we work with are trying to get (or reapply) for 501c3 so I’ll say Brookes Legacy Animal Rescue in Naples, FL. Our cousin volunteers and fosters for them. Because all their animals are in foster homes, all the money they raise goes toward parolling animals on death row. http://www.brookeslegacyanimalrescue.org
Mom forgot to give you the name of the charity when she replied to your newsletter. It is Pet Pride of New York, Inc. It is a no-kill cat shelter located in western New York state. Best of luck to everyone’s choice of rescue group–they are all so worthy. Purrs.

What a lovely thing to do. You are one gorgeous feline inside and out!
xoxo
Ms. Stella O’Houligan
A lovely generous thing to do! 🙂
I want to nominate Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in NC.
They love Blind cats and ones that have FELV and FIV. They get to stay there forever and they are taken care of by Veternarians.
http://blindcatrescue.com/
I would like to nominate http://blackcatrescue.com/ in memory of 2 very special black cats that I have been blessed to have in my life.
Meowma
Sparkle, we want to tell you about a little known – no-kill shelter here in Kansas. They are the only independent no-kill cat shelter in the area we live in. The name of the shelter is Country Cats Incorporated. You can find them at this link. members.petfinder.com/~KS86/donate.html
They are mainly a one person operation and sometimes she doesn’t answer the phone. They need funds for a quarantine building and an FIV building… among other needs. Purrz, Katie Kat.
Awww….this is SO wonderful, Sparkle.
We would also like to choose PAWS.
We are always so touched with the posts on Kevin’s and Maggie’s blogs.
(((purrs)))
Katie & Glogirly
Sparkle, that is fantastic! You and your Human rock! We would like to choose PAWS of Norwalk CT because we follow the stories of the kitties there and think that they are a really special organization.
My Human tries to do this too. She has been pledging money every month to blindcatrescue.com that Sue Brandes mentioned above. They do take wonderful care of kitties no one else wants. But whichever group your Human chooses will be great!
Sparkle, we think this is a great thing that your human does. We’d like to suggest our local rescue group, P.A.W.S. of Michigan. The mom volunteers with them. And the human that heads up the group just helped the mom trap two cats at the dad-guy’s business so they could be fixed. They are a great group and help lots of animals. 🙂
I’d like to nominate Winging Cat Rescue.
Miss Sparkle,
Thank you for coming by to wish me a happy Gotcha day, it was lovely to have you visit!
This is a furry nice thing of yore bean to do. We like to support a wonderful all-volunteer group called Alley Cats and Angels here in North Carolina. They do lots of great work – all foster homes, no shelter! One of the beans works wif owr mom, so we know they are reely good peeps.

Hugs & purrs,

May we submit Texas Siamese rescue. They have big dreams for lots of hope, your help would be welcomed! http://tx.siameserescue.org/
Harvey
In the winter I like to support ferals, so I’ll go with http://www.alleycatallies.org
P.S. waiting for your email.
The website listed is a no kill shelter where they also take special needs animals and help them become adoptable, we had adopted our Joey from them, this cat was terribly scared at 1st and they turned him into a great lovable cat which we are glad everyday we have him here.

Sparkle,
Ours should come as no surprise. We like Black Cat Rescue, so if you pick us, please donate to them. Here is their link.

Love & purrz!
Selina & MomKatt Laura
I would suggest AniMeals in Missoula, MT. They do great work with all kinds of rescue animals. Even GOATS!
There is a very small rescue located out in the middle of no where (about an hour from us) that doesn’t get some of the attention they would get if they were closer to a large city. http://hishands-extendedsanctuary.org/ Mom has visited there – they do great work with a local TNR group and have a low cost clinic that they run as well.
You rock, Sparkle! And so does your human! 🙂
I’d choose PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Society) of Norwalk, CT. As you know, we blog about the kitties there (and it’s where we volunteer). 🙂
We suggest PAWS – the shelter behind Animal Shelter Volunteer Life with meowmeowmans. He is a wonderful purrson and so is his no kill shleter. No kitty is turned away, no matter what challenges or costs are involved. They take the ones the shelter won’t touch. http://animalsheltervolunteer.blogspot.com/
I know we are all cats or cat people but can you spare a thought for the goggies too? I have been been supporting Hope for Paws You’ve seen his videos of rescues…Just a thought. My Christmas gifts went to 2 cat rescues, 2 all-inclusive animal rescues and Hope for Paws….
Everyone’s choices sound so wonderful! Hmmm…. Naturally, my first choice would be Anjellicle Cat’s Rescue but since I chose them for my rescue story, I’m gonna pick Happy Homes Animal Rescue, another wonderful rescue pullin’ cats from the NYC system. Pullin’ cats and savin’ lives. That’s what they do!
Purrs,
Nissy
What a great thing to do Sparkle. A rescue I really love is Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in NC. They take in Blind Cats, FIV,and FELV. Cats no one else wants. Most come sickly so they get treated and made healthy before going in a their room. This also becomes their forever home as many have had too many homes and been through too much trauma. They get the best forever care and the best food to help them stay healthy. The kitties have a happy and comfortable live for the rest of their life. And are well loved and taken care of.
http://blindcatrescue.com/
I think you know about them but Purebreds Plus in Northern California always gets my vote. They’re the rescue that I got Angel from…http://www.purebredsplus.org/index.shtm
sparkle binga N boodie…thiz iz rockin awesum oh yur mom ta due this N we wood like ta nominatez:
Tree House
http://www.treehouseanimals.org

best fishes ta everee one’s choice; thiz bee a win win…
N de food serviss gal says her can total lee ree late ta familee 😈 😡 👿
just tweeted! I am suggesting Backdoor Friends in Farmington Hills Michigan, in memory of Stephanie Newman who is no longer with us. She used to blog about them all of the time and her 3 cats are there (last I heard)
Me and my Mom wants to suggest our local cat rescue peoples called R.O.F.F. or Rescue Our Furry Friends..They is good peoples who help out kittehs and doggies all the time..my Mommy knowed of some baby kittens and their Mommy Cat died a couple weeks after they was borned..my human Mom was crying cause she was so scared for them babies.. Mom picked them up and taked them to the R.O.F.F. lady..they was taken care of and fed with bottles and then they finded homes for them all..Mom was even allowed to call and checked on how they was doing..She says there is nothing more beautiful than a box fulled of kittens..Tell your human lady that she is so nice to do this for other kittehs..you three girls are so lucky to has her.. 😉
This is so generous. Mommy’s favorite group, for which she volunteers and supports monetarily, is Barn Cat Buddies. She’s written about them on our blog. They are a TNR/rescue group, and they work with Angels of Assisi, our local no-kill shelter. They’re slogan is, “Got Mice?” They adopt the more feral kitties to folks who need mice control and the ones who are not to people like us. Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo are Barn Cat Buddies. They also maintain several large feral colonies. So if, we should win, that would be our choice for the donation. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
My favorite is Duncan’s Place, a cat sanctuary (http://www.duncansplace.org). They not only foster kitties that need homes, they participate in TNR programs, provide people and pet food to families in need so they don’t have to give up their pets when times are hard, hold spay and neuter clinics, and do lots of other things to help the community. It’s also the place where we adopted Candy and EK.
What a pawsome idea !
Me is not so good in American shelters 🙁
But I know you have enough furriends Over There that can help you with that 🙂
XOXO
Sparkle, what a nice thing for you and your human to do! We would like to nominate the shelter we both came from, The Buddy Foundation: http://www.thebuddyfoundation.org/. They are the next Chicago suburb over from us and do so much good. Because Mom is a supporter they have taken in a few homeless kitties she has found even when they were full.
I too am proud to be your furriend Sparkle. You and your mom are the best. Mom and I both completely appreciate what your mom does for helpless little ones without families. xxoooox
You and your human are so generous Sparkle! As you already probably know, my human and I are big fans of Los Angleles based Kitty Bungalow: http://kittybungalow.org/
They do great work in the LA area adopting out cats but their main focus is TNR which is the key to solving the kitty over population problem. Meow and Namaste!~ Pippy the Feline Yogini
Like Hannah and Lucy, we agree that it’s a good idea, but as we are also in the UK, we can’t put forward any suggestions. Hope you can find somewhere suitable to donate to, we’re sure other cats will leave comments about suitable places.
What a great idea for your Mom to give a donation to a rescue group. We don’t know any sites whenre you are so please choose for us.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Sparkle this is a most wonderful post and I am so proud to be your friend
Hugs Madi your bfff
Did you see the Big Cat Rescue video on my Wordless Wednesday post today Sparkle?
They are an awesome group located in Tampa Florida and my current charity pick!
They are a “Best in America” and 100% of your donations go to save the big cats (administrative expenses are funded through tours).
You can read more about them here:
