I’m about to go on a therapy cat visit at one of my usual hospitals… but do you notice anything different? That’s right, I’m not wearing my usual regulation therapy vest. I’m dressed for Halloween! I did not want to wear something too complicated or too heavy, just something simple. So I decided on this little frock.
You saw this dress once before, but if you forgot, here’s the post. The back says, “So Cute… It’s Scary!”
My human and I were the only team this time, no dog teams were with us. I don’t mind the dogs, but it was kind of nice to be able to wander around the volunteer room while my human signed in, and to be able to walk on the leash in the halls. When we are with a dog team, it is simpler for me to be in my sling carrier, but I prefer being on a leash and allowed to walk. So let me tell you about some of my visits!
- I think the first guy we visited kind of cried when he saw me because he missed his cat so much. He even had a tattoo of his kitty on his arm. He was really, really happy to see me. I spent lots of time with him.
- One older lady only spoke Spanish, and fortunately, a bilingual nurse happened into the room while we were visiting so she helped my human communicate with her. I thought that was funny because I was communicating with the patient just fine.
- There was a family, and the father was the patient. But he was sitting in a chair while the mom and the little girl were in his bed hanging out. Of course I jumped on the bed! “Hey, I’m the patient!” he said, but I could tell he was happy that I was there to entertain his little girl. He told my human about their pretty brown chihuahua that they rescued from the streets.
- I visited a bunch of nurses and other workers! Some of them hadn’t seen me before, but a lot of them remembered me from prior visits. They took photos of me and I did tricks for them.
The only bad thing I have to say about my visit is there wasn’t enough time to cover all the floors of the hospital that are open to me! That is why there is usually two teams — it takes two therapy pets to visit a full two or three floors in an hour and a half. Next time I will try to go to the floors that I missed.
Love your Halloween dress. And the saying fits you to a T!
It’s a shame you were the only therapy pet that day, but at least you were able to bring happiness to a few. I think your work as a therapy pet is so important. Keep up the good work!
Love your frock Summer, I’m glad you had fun.
What important healing work you and your Human are doing, Summer…you both rock!
Sweet post and lovely photos. Fantastic seeing therapy cats. 🙂
Your frock was the purrfect choice. This sounds like another successful therapy visit
I love hearing about your volunteer work, Summer. You must have been the highlight of the patients’ and staff’s day!
You and your human are a great team.
I bet you were the highlight of everybody’s Halloween, sweet girl. That’s heartbreaking that a man cried when he saw you because he missed his kitty so much 🙁
Great job, Summer ! You’re giving so much joy to these people ! Purrs
We’re sure you made everyone’s Halloween much happier! You’re such a sweet girl!
You do such wonderful work, Summer! Glad you brighten the lives of so may others. Yesterday when petcretary was at her work there was a nice big boxer there. So petcretary brought some of her residents out to meet him. They enjoyed petting him and he looked like he wanted to jump in some laps for a cuddle…but um…he was a bit too large to do that. On Saturday there was a nice elderly schnauzer there visiting his boss-man, and petcretary asked if he would like to see some willing doggy lovers. So off he went to do his smileys for some residents. They all loved on him too. So even though they are not therapy animals they still bring their own bit of cheer to others. It makes a bright spot in petcretary’s day too!
That sounds like a wonderful visit, Summer. You sure bring lots of happiness to those patients and their families. Happy Moewloween!
Love your Halloween frock, Summer! We are sure you brightened up everyone’s Halloween.
Oh, Summer, you and your human are doing such a very wonderful thing!

^^ Pretty Cat!!
I am obsessed with your stories – lots of them make me tear up a little. You’re such an incredible cat.
We’re a little surprised you were allowed to dress in your costume instead of your therapy vest, but we think it’s great you could dress up like that for the patients! Our human thinks of you every time she is at the hospital with her father and sees the therapy dogs visiting. So far, she hasn’t seen any cats… how disappointing!
Halloween is the one time we get to wear something other than our therapy vests. I still wore my hospital badge, of course.
Summer. YOU are totally completely adorable in that dress! And I am so glad you got to go and charm everyone in the hospital. Thank you and thanks to your human too!
Sounds like you had great visit! A guy with tatoo of his kitty is just so sweet. I love reading about your visits and how you made patients and their families so happy 🙂
Happy Halloween!
You looked so pretty and cute for the occasion. You and your mom bring so much joy to people. We are glad to hear you girls had a wonderful time. Paws up to you both! Purrs and Happy Halloween!

You’re a sweetheart, Summer. You bring a smile to all your readers faces every day as well 🙂
That is such a great thing to do Summer to make those people in the hospital a little bit happy for a little while.
Happy Halloween, Summer! I so love what you and your human are doing with your therapy work.
Happy Halloween Summer! We have a treat for you today, and think you should write a book: Confessions of a Therapy Cat.
You do an amazing job, Summer. You must bring so much joy to the patients in those hospitals!
