Ginger Jasper wasn’t just one of my oldest cat blogosphere friends, he was also my Secret Paws partner two years ago, when he was very ill and we all thought we were going to lose him. Even though the holidays were a somber and unhappy time for his humans, and I’m sure they weren’t feeling festive at all, I still got a package that arrived the day before Christmas, 2011. You can see everything we got here.
When I look back at my Secret Paws post, I see so many gifts that are still a part of my life today — the springs are favorite toys of ours and the fleece blanket is still in the living room. The treats are long gone, but the kitty tissues still sit, unused, on the desk in our home office. Best of all, we have the tote with GJ’s handsome face on it. In my original Secret Paws post, I said, “we were especially touched by this and we will treasure it forever”… and we have.
As it turned out, GJ rallied, and we had his friendship for nearly two more years — until earlier this week.
GJ, I can’t really say goodbye, because you will always live on in my heart.
Awww, 😥 . GJ will always be there watchin’ over you, YRH. Very lovely tribute to a very fine feline.
That is a really moving tribute, Sparkle.
I did not know GJ…clearly my loss…*bows head to paws*
What a sweet and touching post.
Ginger Jasper was very special.
I didn’t know Ginger Jasper, but I’ve read about his passing all this week. Gosh! He certainly was LOVED by many bloggers. It was good that he lived 2 years past his original diagnosis–that was nice for his family to have that extra time together. So sad. ;(
I can tell how much Ginger Jasper meant to mew and mewz human, mewz post is a loving and worthy tribute to such a legendary mancat. We never do have to say goodbye do we? For we will all see one another again at the Bridge someday, and until then those that leave before us will remain in our hearts.
Sparkle, what a very sweet post for Ginger Jasper. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
