Here I am at a rest stop, half an hour from our hotel, showing my human how well I could ride shotgun. For some reason, she isn’t buying it. Maybe the problem was my crawling around her feet by the pedals while she was checking Facebook. We are going to be at the big cat show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds this weekend. Yes, I’m going to be a Pet Me Cat, but there’s a difference this year. We are also doing a presentation about cat training! That was the inspiration for my clicker training post the other day.
The show hotel is always the same. It’s located somewhere called Cardiff-By-The-Sea, but my human calls it Cardiff-By-The-Freeway because the hotel is right off the 5 freeway. It’s actually a nice hotel, though, and there is enough space for my human to work out in our room.
You can kind of get an idea of how spacious it is here. See? There’s even a couch.
Here is some of my wardrobe for the weekend. I’ve been practicing with the hoop at home, and my human brought it for more practice this weekend. I don’t know if I’ll be using it in our cat show presentation… but I may need it for a future event.
My human ran down to the show the afternoon we arrived to set up my benching area early. After she finished she took some photos of booths that were already set up. She knows she will be too busy to do more than glance over them during the weekend.
This is the biggest annual show on the West Coast, so the vendors go all out!
Sadly, I will not be allowed to try out the cat trees. And there are a bunch there!
Are there enough maneki nekos for you here?
The judging process can be confusing, so there is a board here that explains how it works. Because this cat show draws so many spectators, the judges work hard to let them know what is going on.
Here’s the education ring where my human and I will be presenting at 12:00 Saturday! It’s short, only a half hour, but my human is a little nervous because she’s never teamed with me on a presentation before!
That breed board is also for the spectators. The first thing my human did was look for Somalis. None of my relatives look quite like this rendition, actually.
Anyhow, this Somali needs some rest for the big day!
