As you recall, I was sulking yesterday, and for good reason! We live in on a hill in a “Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone,” so every year my human hires a crew to clear out the brush around our house and trim the trees that have overgrown during the year to bring our property into compliance with the LAFD. Well, this year’s brush clearance was a disaster, and my human did not even notice it for days! She was so busy worrying about what the Fire Department might say that she did not even notice that the crew also tore out the growth in some of the ornamental planters, including… my catnip!
It is all gone! Not that I was expecting much. What was left was hanging on by a thread. No wonder the crew probably thought it was weeds. But still, my human should have told them not to touch it.
So this is sort of a gardening FAIL post and House of Horrors post combined.
When all the kits here heard about your tragic news, they told me to just send you new plants…because catnip truly grows like fricking weeds here. We freak a little when TOOO much is cleaned up….but really, there is always way way way more than we need (so we pick it and dry it for later.) It wouldn’t be illegal to mail or anything, would it???
That’s very nice of you, but you may want to hold off a couple of weeks on that… it might just be possible that they did not completely get it all! Time will tell.
We hear you, Sparkle! Jan planted catnip for a couple of years in planters on the porch and — nothing! But this year it started growing in the ground below the porch behind the bushes. And when the guys cut the lawn the other day, they used the weed eater on our catnip. See, if Jan doesn’t kill our greens every year, strangers do. 🙁
That is the worst HORROR we have seen! Why would a cleaning crew remove stuff in a PLANTING box?
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I don’t blame you for sulking one bit!!! I would have been sooooooooooooooo “Pi – -ED!!!”
Horrifying and shocking! No wonder you looked so upset!!
That is SO negligent and irresponsible of your Mom, I think you should call the Nip Police. Or, at the very, very least, she needs to go to PetSmart, RIGHT NOW, tonight, and buy you some more. And some treats. And some kitty grass. And maybe some new toys. Yeah, that.
Yow! That’s just so terrible and horrific on so many levels!
We bet that crew guy stole your catnip to take home to his kitty! Still, it’s an abosolute horror that your human wasn’t guard your stash while the workers were there. That’s like leaving the Hope diamond out in the open!
They TORE OUT your catnip?!? That truly is a horror!
How dreadful! Poor Sparkle. We feel for you. Make the survunt suffer and give her the big tayul of disapproval.
‘Oh SPARKLE!!!”
I am nearly speechless. This is awful. You had a real little catnippy stash and now…..
* shakes head in sorrow *

Silly humans, can’t discern ‘nip from brush…oh well, mom will just have to buy you another plant. Soon. Right now!
Oh no! This is so terrible.
I say sue the garden crew! Make them pay in one-hundred catnip plants!
Caro

Oh Sparkle, we can’t believe this tragedy! I think your mom should rush out immediately and buy a new catnip plant for you.
That is indeed epic fail. We are so sorry. We shudder at the thought of such tragedy. Can you avenge this in some way?
Sparkle, this is so wrong on so many levels…we can’t even respond.
Dear Sparkle,
Mes planted seeds. When it grows, me will send yous some.
Kisses
Nellie
Now there is a crabilated look if ever I saw one!
Poor Sparkle. Mes should send yous some of ours when its all growed!
Kisses
Nellie
Oh no! That’s horrible! I hope you get more catnip!!!!
Oh Sparkle, how awful!!! Although if you were to look on the bright side your mum can now plant a brand new and thriving catnip plant in it’s place…maybe two 🙂
Well it needs to be replaced immediately!!!
That is just wrong!!! We understand making the house safe, but we don’t think catnip would ever be a burn hazard. Bad mommy and bad cleanup crew…..
Yikes, that IS horrific! How about hanging nip baskets instead? Or big planters with nip in them?
We suggest giving your mom the back of disrespect until new catnip plants are planted and nursed with tender care.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Oh, NO!!!!!!!!!! Total disaster to lose your nip plant!!!!!!!!
We are purring that your mom will quickly plant another one.
xxxxxxxx
What??? They stole your catnip? Can you sue for damages?
I think your mom should go to the nearest garden center and come home with at least 3 new plants to fill up your planter.
Oh Noooos Sparkle. Not the nip. That really is horrible. Maybe Mom can start over with a nip plant and it will be better this time. Put a sign up, ‘Do not remove’.
Oh Nose… So sorry to hear that you lost your catnip plant. Tell your bean it’s time to replant.
pawhugs, Max
Gasp! How dare they. Not the catnip plant!! I’m so happy you are giving them the evil look, which you do so well.
That is awful! We suggest you send your human to the catnip farm right away for some more supplies!
Oh, no! Not the catnip! Sulking is completely in order.
OMC! How awful! Are yoo gonna get compensashun in the way of noo catnip plants?
We’re doing a House of Horrors post tomorrow too!
That’s very sad for you that you lost your catnip. Your human was definitely not on the ball that time. Maybe she will plant some more–she better!
Sparkle, catnip is very resilient! But I’m sure your Mommy will plant more if it dies!
This is absolutely HORROR !!!!! Sparkle
No Nip for Spring, That is so WRONG !!!!!
I hope your mom grow the new one for you
HUG to you my friend
xoxo
