Gardening Tragedy/ House of Horrors

April 21, 2011 By: Sparkle Cat42 Comments

As you recall, I was sulking yesterday, and for good reason! We live in on a hill in a “Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone,” so every year my human hires a crew to clear out the brush around our house and trim the trees that have overgrown during the year to bring our property into compliance with the LAFD. Well, this year’s brush clearance was a disaster, and my human did not even notice it for days! She was so busy worrying about what the Fire Department might say that she did not even notice that the crew also tore out the growth in some of the ornamental planters, including… my catnip!

Stupid brush clearance crew!

It is all gone! Not that I was expecting much. What was left was hanging on by a thread. No wonder the crew probably thought it was weeds. But still, my human should have told them not to touch it.

My human's ineptitude knows no bounds.

So this is sort of a gardening FAIL post and House of Horrors post combined.

When all the kits here heard about your tragic news, they told me to just send you new plants…because catnip truly grows like fricking weeds here. We freak a little when TOOO much is cleaned up….but really, there is always way way way more than we need (so we pick it and dry it for later.) It wouldn’t be illegal to mail or anything, would it???

That’s very nice of you, but you may want to hold off a couple of weeks on that… it might just be possible that they did not completely get it all! Time will tell.

We hear you, Sparkle! Jan planted catnip for a couple of years in planters on the porch and — nothing! But this year it started growing in the ground below the porch behind the bushes. And when the guys cut the lawn the other day, they used the weed eater on our catnip. See, if Jan doesn’t kill our greens every year, strangers do. 🙁

That is SO negligent and irresponsible of your Mom, I think you should call the Nip Police. Or, at the very, very least, she needs to go to PetSmart, RIGHT NOW, tonight, and buy you some more. And some treats. And some kitty grass. And maybe some new toys. Yeah, that.
