Garden Gripe Thursday

October 13, 2011 By: Sparkle Cat32 Comments

Humans! They cannot do anything right.

Well, that gardener finally got around to replacing the nip plant he so carelessly ripped out by the roots and destroyed. But you won’t believe how he did it: he showed up with a bedraggled little nip plant that had probably been languishing in the back of some dusty, run-down excuse for a pet store.

Trust me, it is nowhere near this green in reality.

How pathetic is that? My human has her work cut out ahead of her, and considering how good she is with plants, I am not holding out much hope.

Oh dear, Sparkle. On the plus side, at least the gardener knows the nip is there and won’t kill it again!

At least the gardener knows it’s there now since he planted it so he won’t be pulling it out. Hopefully it grows really big really fast!

Oh my. Well, if it is any consolation, nip is a mint plant and should grow like crazy…if now silly bean digs it up that is.

mommy would dump my “dead” potted nip plants from a garden store along the house with the soil to fill the foundation, and now it is everywhere in the yard. mmmm nip

i’ll cross my paws yours does as well!

Welllll, it *IS* kind of puny–but I think there’s hope! Maybe the gardener will take care of it instead of your mom?

Well, maybe the catnip plant starts out like a Charlie Brown tree–and ya know what the tree looked like after…. 🙂 Hang in there. Purr for your human, she may need a little confidence…

We think that nip plant is very cute and soon will provide all three of you some good times. Glad the human put up a sign explaining what the plant is now. Too funny. We are sending tons of purrs that this catnip makes it and doesn’t have to RIP. Take care.

    Dear Sparkle,
Our plant was pretty sad looking when we’s got it, but it took off. Then Kozmo and Cinnamon wrestled it into the ground. Now it has come back! Once they get get going they are hard to kill!

I think catnip is a “seasonal” plant like herbs etc. Mom and Dad waited till after my human sister’s wedding to go to the garden store and buy parsley, oregano and catnip plants (they were all out of basil) and the plants were all looking pretty sorry. They perked up a lot with home care, though, and flourished. Maybe your will do well now that it is heading into fall, not the hottest part of summer. Just tell her she DOES have to water it!
