Garden Green-to-Brown Thursday

January 12, 2012 By: Sparkle Cat32 Comments

Sometimes I dread looking out at the garden!
You will never believe my human’s latest garden blunder! Of course, my nip plant was the recipient of her feeble-mindedness.

At least MOST of it was still green...
It does not look too bad here, although you will note it does not look a whole lot bigger than the last time I wrote about it. So let’s take a closer look.

Those once-juicy leaves are ruined!
The leaves were starting to dry up. The poor plant was parched! My human went to check on it earlier in the week and it was limp!

Human error to the max!
And here is why! My human put the sprinkler timer on “Rain Off” the last time it rained — which was weeks ago! I think it was even before Christmas, because we have been having a very dry winter here. There I was, basking in all those awesome sun puddles, totally unaware that my human’s mistake was killing my nip plant! Luckily, she finally figured it out and turned the sprinklers back on. You would think all the other limp plants and the brown grass in the front yard would have given her a clue.

It's a good thing she takes better care of us cats than she does my nip!
I can’t trust her with anything.

Don’t be too hard on your mom, she isn’t a cat! Our mom managed to kill every plant she owned and she has a BS in botany! Her excuse? It wasn’t horticulture!

We hope your nip recovers. Our mum forgets to water the indoor plants and only remembers when they are floppy.

MomKatt can sympathize w/your hooman, Sparkle. Any type of yardwork is anathema to her. She was forced to mow the lawn as a child, and has hated anything smacking of growing stuff or yardwork ever since. Even house plants! Plus she claims to have a “black thumb”. But I think w/some water, your ‘nip will perk up nicely! Perhaps she should tie a string around her finger to remind her to water it ….

Oh No rain. Sure glad the human checked the nip. That would have been so sad if that nip plant had had to go to the bridge. But nip is pretty tough stuff. Our Mom has forgotten to water ours and it survived. Glad it is OK. Take care.
