I haven’t done a Flashback Friday for a while, so I thought I would share one with you today. This goes all the way back to August 2006, when my human was trying to sell the house we used to live in. This involved holding something called an “Open House,” which did not seem so open to us cats, since we got whisked away and confined to a room in a house belonging to a friend of my human’s for the afternoon. I did not like that room. It had a lousy view and there was no Bird TV.
Binga was just as disgusted with the view.
She wound up flopped out on the bed, in a very foul temper.
Boodie barely left her carrier. Especially because of Binga’s bad mood.
We had to do this annoying “open house” thing not once, but three times! Each time my human brought a disposable litter box for us, but only one of us ever used it.
If you want to see more of what went on, you can go to the post here — I used to update the diary part of my blog just once a month, so the posts are fairly long.
OMC!!! my Dad and Mom just had our house for sale…and peeps with kids kept coming around…and they all said “I wanna see the kitty….whine, whine, whine…” AIIIIEEEE…I hid under the bed! Thank goodness D and M took house off, and no one comes anymore…we still have to move…but no more peeps wandering thru…whew..
Nothing is better than the own house !
Open houses – Yuck! At least yous had a place to go! When we has had ours we has always had to stay on the car!
Humans!

That’s even WORSE than the cat sitter!!!
…and a disposable litter box? Seriously. Thank Cod you all survived the ordeal.
; ) Katie
It must have been a not-so-pleasant time :-/
But you seem to enjoy your new home now!

That doesn’t look fun at all! We don’t ever want an open house here!
I certainly hope you don’t have to go through that again, that sounds like big time no fun!
Sparkle
We’ve never had to go through that before, but I can tell we would not like it.

The inhumanity! Not content with sending you away, your Human puts you through the indignity of having your photo taken in the litter box. Do these Humans have no shame?
OMC! That is just awful. Then, there’s the pic of you using the “facilities”. What’s that all about?
Open house is a horrible thing, girls. Thank goodness that isn’t in my immediate future. xox
Cat open houses don’t sound very fun at all.
We could imagine how upsetting that is for you kittehs. It’s truly crazy for humans too you know.
If I were buying a house, I’d like to see kittehs in the house I’m buying dont you think? The kitties would certainly add a lot of character to the house.
Along with the realtor wanting us to vamoose (along with our litter boxes!) while the open houses were going on, my human was also worried that people would leave the doors open and we’d run away! So she preferred taking us all to camp out in a room in her friend’s house. She stayed with us the whole time we were there… not that it made it any better.
Wow, such upset. When the publicist was selling her house in NJ she just let the cats run around even during the open houses. She said the realtors could take her and her house as it was.
The evil open house was horrible. We were all hiding in a room because it was so last minute we could not be moved elsewhere. I HATED it!
Oh no open house does not sound fun at all! But the last photo made me giggle 🙂
That doesn’t sound too great. I’m glad it was a long time ago. Enjoy today…, That’s for sure.
pawhugs, Max
That sure doesn’t sound like much fun, Sparkle.
Glad that is all in the past and you all have the run of your home with good Bird TV now; the look on your face in the last photo is priceless, beautiful Sparkle!!MOL…We hope you guys enjoy a happy, lazy weekend ahead, precious friends…xoxo…Calle, Halle, Sukki
We remember what Open Houses were like and we didn’t like them at ALL!!
The Florida Furkids and Lexi
Yuck….that is no fun.
This open house thing sounds horrible. So glad I’ve never been subjected to it. Paws crossed I never will. So glad you all made it though. purrs
Well of all the indignities – shipped off to an alien dwelling, photographed in the litter box, put in bags to be transported – thank goodness you didn’t tell us more – did you all have to take tranquillisers afterwards?
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Well that doesn’t look like fun being whisked away to a strange house. Yikes. We would have totally gone UTB. Glad you dont’ have to do that any more. Have a super day.
Noooooo… never get Binga upset! Boodie, I’d hide with you!!
I’ve got my vote in for you today!!
Being taken away while the house got opened up – that is an outrage, We hope such things never happen to you now!
We would like to thank you for the suggestion of Slippery Elm Bark for Stran-veli. We used this when Rilli-ukko had bad stomach acid and it soothed him a lot. Stran’s problem is at the other end but Äiti will investigate whether SEB can help here too. Apparently it is now banned in the UK for sale, and definitely not available here in Finland. Luckily we have a pack in the fridge!
