For a moment when we entered the big room at the assisted living facility, my human wondered if she’d stepped back in time to a 1980s dance club. Peter Gabriel was blasting on the stereo! I just noticed more residents than normal were there, which meant I had work to do! So I got busy visiting.
The first couple of women I saw were Spanish speaking, which I love. They really enjoyed me too. The lady who always wants high fives was present, so I visited with her. Her friend was sitting next to her, and it turned out the man next to her was her boyfriend. A staff member with a tablet came over and started taking photos of me with the residents. And that was nice because I know the facility enjoys having these mementos.
Another resident I’ve seen frequently was the blind man, and the staff member helped him pet me. I also visited the woman who loves cats. She’s not doing well. Her hands were shaking when she petted me. My human noticed that her fingernails were freshly painted… and then she started seeing lots of the women residents with bright nails. A manicurist must have stopped by to do nails for them. It seems like the staff at this facility really cares for for the people living there.
The second house was finally open again after being on covid quarantine for a couple of months. It was pretty quiet in their big room, though, so we were only there for about 15 or 20 minutes.
It was a very good visit, and I’m glad I got to see so many familiar faces.

We are glad the elder Beins are gettin attention and things they enjoy. You, manicurist, music. About the music, if they dont hear something they remember, they get cranky. Probably, Stone Temple Pilot is too “new”, MOL! TBT has heard that many places just put on elevator music or old movies on the TV.
We continue ta think it is SO wunnerful that you go visit them and brighten up their days!
Nice work Summer. I know they all loved you. It’s a labor of love

I love it when people care about old folks. Everything seems all for GenZ or Millenials and no-one else counts. Good for you Summer
Sounds like they were having a party of sorts. You just added
to their party feeling. That was another nice visit.
I can imagine how delighted the residents and staff are, when you come to visit, Summer!
Some of my mother’s favorite days at her place are animal visitations, both kitties and dogs! It’s wonderful y’all do this. XX
Thanks for sharing this Summer !!
You’re making friends there, Summer!
This was lovely to read…
Sounds like that was a great visit.
Really nice to that the women had their nails done. I bet that made them feel good.
I bet your visit made them happy and that is so good for mental health.
Purrs, Julie
It is nice to have a visit where you meet a lot of old friends.
Sometimes we have spa days where I work, and ‘doing nails’ is a big thing. I can always tell when their nails are freshly painted, It makes the ladies feel good to do normal things. We have a beautician, too.
Thanks for doing all your wonderful therapy, Summer, and to your Human for helping you to get there each time. You’re a great team!
