I bet lots of you were wondering if my nephew, crazy Louie, was at this weekend’s cat show… and of course he was! But a younger nephew of mine was also there.
Meet Navy! Navy’s just four months old, and this was his very first cat show! He didn’t come from my breeder — he is my half brother Sizzle’s kid, and he is the very first kitten to come out of Sizzle’s human’s cattery. He is an only, and Sizzle’s human lucked out and got a real cutie.
Being an only kitten, Navy has not been around any other cats except his mother, and not many humans. So all of this was very new to him. To his credit, he was just a little bit scared. My human got to interact with him, and he was a very fun, playful little guy. Being so playful in a large, noisy cat show hall is a good sign that he can be a show kitty!
He wasn’t sure what was going on when he was being judged, but the judges were all very sweet with him. Towards the end, he was beginning to realize that these strangers might be kind of cool! I am looking forward to seeing him develop his show legs.
Louie, who just turned one, is an old pro now! He loves coming to the shows and hanging out with the judges.
He’s also grown up into a very elegant, handsome boy.
By now, Louie knows most of the judges, and he treats them all like old pals.
He’s especially friendly with some of the judges, like this one.
Sometimes he even gives out kisses.
Louie wasn’t the only cat playing up to the judges. His competition was my old pal, BJ, and BJ also kissed up to his share of judges. This one got some special attention from him. She wound up giving both BJ and Louie finals.
Louie has the best time when he comes to the cat shows. I think he enjoys them more than any other cat I’ve ever met, with the possible exception of his dad, Chilly. Chilly loved showing too.
Of course, how could he not like these shows? He gets to play, meet people, and show off.
Plus he is always looking for ways to make mischief.
He knocked ribbons off his cage bars several times. My human was never quite quick enough to catch him.
He certainly got enough ribbons! Louie earned his CFA Grand title in the first ring… and then kept on getting finals for the rest of the day. By the end of the show, he had finaled in five out of six rings and placed really well in most of them. Next week, he goes home to his new human in northern California. She’ll be showing him up there, and sometimes down here too.
